What is your favourite old master painting?

>> No.6450944

A digital drawing of a character doing a pose with a simple or basic background and the one where a character is doing se basic activity and it's drawn using 2 or 3 point or fish eye perspective.

Bonus points for including nudity and all the charavters must either be really sexy or at least idealized or fetishy if they happen to be less than ideal by mainstream standards.

Oh wait, that's 99% of what people on /ic/ draw.

Our terms of art were decided by turbo niggers though. Gerome was born only like 20 years after Delacroix ("the last old master"), he's an old master, deal with it.

loose definition: 1400s-early 1800s. sometimes proto renaissance include.
conservative defnition: early renaissance, renaisssance, and baroque are core old masters. guild tradition dominant. 1700s also called old masters but not the ones people associate with old masters. academic system gains influence and dominance. artistic centers shift strongly to english and french cities. by mid 1700s painters are more aware that some qualities are lost and many try to emulate older masters. for example, there was a concern for finding the secret medium of old masters.

ingres and delacroix are kind of a stretch but understandable as they maintained trends that operated during the bulk of 1700s. most of the few notable and pure neoclassicists and romanticists died around the first quarter and first half of the 1800s. a lot of times ingres and delacroix are not even considered as old masters.

Can't we just consider anyone from 19th century and older as old masters if their work is great? At least for this thread I mean. The more, the merrier.

notice how the angels look black. this is because back then there wasn't much distinction between servants and slaves, language-wise, so the idiot artist depicted them that way upon hearing "angels are the servants of God"
