i took very long to learn how to draw, but personally I can say it developed naturally without me really trying to do it. i'd love to say style is just... doing things your way, the way you happened to learn to do them, but i'm thinking maybe it's not just that alone.

Basically, despite already having my own style, I once fell into a habit of drawing really generic and it just felt awful, and I didn't know why it was happening all of a sudden or how to stop it. The problem was with the style of eyes I was using was vry generic, so i went to a more classic traditional me method; once I fixed it the rest fixed, but uh, my sympathies to anyone who has to struggle with that, it rly sucks

so tl;dr, I think if you want to have a style, you need to strongly avoid anything that feels awful-generic, try find any other way. As for actually developing a style, I honestly think that's just happens naturally with play, use, and exploration, but for me admittedly style was never a problem so that might not be true.

I'm not much of an artist but I think that the composition looks solid and the character's pretty cute. All I can really think of is to try to push the values to the darker side and increase the contrast a bit. I hope you don't mind but I made a quick rough of it.

Never, really. Nintendo, or Toby, are free to call for a cease and desist whenever they want. And they have, in the past (Nintendo has, at least; I don't think Toby ever has, or will). A lot of people get around this by either: not drawing Nintendo (see: Nawka); or, naming their characters something else (e.g., Space Fox, Goat Mom). It also depends on the countries involved.

I think that anon is speaking about just fundies generally. Everyone's gotta study fundies before moving onto other things. Even I right now have so much studying to do after finally getting a basic grasp of fundies myself. But as for the piece, one thing I for sure can say is dont hide hands and feet, because then you're only putting off learning how to draw them rather than learning by drawing them. Oh also use reference whenever you can, it helps a lot.

Your drawing is highly stylized so its hard to suggest anything without taking away from the style itself.
That being said there are a few issues I have noticed like the palm of the hand holding the candy cane looks too thin and the horns have inconsistent placement but that will depend on what style you are going for.

Also I should mention, I tried using the perspective offered by the grid on the 3D model I used. So based on that, the ground grid is actually accurate, and the model isn't leaning that far back. Hey, I can see the issue with the perspective, its the top lines as it nears the eye level, it should flatten out. If you notice the lines on the top of her head (wall) are the same angle as the ones at the bottom of her feet, they have to be going at a higher positive angle to indicate they are reaching your horizon level (the height of the camera).

If that doesn't make sense I'll try to edit the picture in a few minutes

Correct. Even if the references or model are "correct", you'll need to make some adjustments of your own. Sometimes, that'll just require you to make adjustments till it looks "right" to you. Sounds odd, but it's something.

Here, all I did was adjusted it with the transformation tool so it somewhat matches the Perspective better. I hope this looks okay?
Don't mind the drawing in the middle, that's just me having fun with the character. I think she's neat!

Right looks better and the foreshortening reads better. The one eye also looks better to me. The lower opacity of the lines in the background and darker lines in the foreground give the illusion of depth a la fading details of atmospheric perspective. Keep the punched opacity in the eyes for compositional focus. I assume there's a horse vagina and butthole in the foreground. The board rules make it difficult to critique.

Taking a break from the horse. Trying to figure this out again. I've learned that it's probably best to start with the perspective ruler than try to adjust it to your character, especially when you're an idiot like me. I drew it quickly so it's no wonder it doesn't fit. I can solve the problem by essentially making a box from her to the door, right? Using the perspective that's already there.

From a composition standpoint, I think you could horizontally flip the background to allow the 3/4ths angle to breathe a little more. Also agree with >>6416318 that the beaker could stand to have some lighter values or more contrast with the dark feathers of the character.

Definitely looks better. Maybe you could add a variety of surgical tools to the countertop like pic related.
Another thought is you could show a little wear and tear on the wall or floor to help break up the uniformity some more. The area is almost too sterile for someone who's likely to be experimenting more often than not.

I'm struggling real hard with painting highlights. I can generally figure out where the light should hit, but I just don't know any techniques for making them look good. You basically got it right. Photoshop does actually have a motion blur function for a selected layer. So first I cut it out of the original layer, Ctrl + shift + z it as a new layer, then motion blur it.

Also thanks! Its from a brush set used by Victor Staris. its fun to use but its really really rough for rendering and I would only use it if you intend to create very general light shapes instead of defined ones.
