It looks like you just blindly applied Kienan Lafferty's subsurface scattering ezpz mode without goign through and softening the places it doesn't belong or places it looks weird. You have essentially put subsurface scattering in hard, bold lines around every single shadow on the skin instead of only places where it's meant to go. It's not bad other than that.

i may be fucking up the name, but icon drawing is when you draw things as you see them in your mind and not how they really are, ie. thinking tree trunks are actually brown when most of the times they are what we would call gray.

Yeah I agree. Wholeheartedly. They're pretty much two different characters at this point. Wasn't my character originally, but I ended up straying really far away from the reference... If I keep him (them?) I'll definitely be experimenting more with the right version.

Some I have modified with time. if you really care you should be able to find them all on the webs. Mixer brushes are crucial for blending in the final stages.

I use a noise layer and some sharpening in the end.
