i meant like how many days did you spread that work over? there's promise here but you need to keep grinding hard, the proportions and basic forms are still off. values are washed out hard, look at your study and you'll see it - squint and just look at the lights and darks. maybe try doing a grid of torsos from different angles and then light them all from different directions - this will test your understand and might clear some things up about where your form is going wrong. do some more figure studies too - if you're spending two hours on these that's a solid benckmark, dump two hours on a figure study from photo, trying to construct the form properly and then light it, and come back to these and make some comparisons.

the 2 hours is fine, the week is not, unless you have some other commitments. to make serious improvement with studies you have to deep dive on a specific topic and refine it with great particularity. if you have extra time in the day outside of what you're already doing, i suggest you commit it to drawing more - to compress those 6 drawings you posted into a day or two, to make the practice more intense and dig deeper.

if you spread them out over a longer time period you learn less, but if you dig deeper while it's fresh then you'll be able to find more errors and make more progress. also don't worry so much about process right now - there's still more to learn in terms of understanding, and it would be more efficient to keep it rough and focus on the forms + perspective or the anatomy or the values instead of trying to get perfectly clean lineart and then rendering.

It looks nice at a glance but when you look at it for a little longer, it kinda feels like your forms are fucked, there are also misplaced muscles, like they're not actually attached to the skull, they're more sliding around the place all weird. You've also got forms inside the face that aren't showing at all on the outside or even in some of your shadow shapes, like your edges and shadows just cut them off entirely. Honestly, it would be good for you to study some facial anatomy (best book I've found so far on that is Anatomy of Facial Expressions by Uldis Zarins) and maybe try something like the Reilly method as a shorthand for lining everything up after you understand the anatomy better.

I wish I knew how to explain it. As for the rendering, it's an iterative process. I use a low flow and then build up layers of black and white. Making stark contrast between the light and dark adds a lot of depth, so I'll exaggerate any fissures/wrinkles/cracks in whatever I'm rendering (in moderation, of course).
If you're who I assume you are, then I'll recommend looking into how to achieve random noise using Krita's Pixel Engine, or even seeing if someone has made a brush preset for it. I spent some time fucking around, and Krita's soft airbrush is really close to the one I use in Photoshop. If it could just generate random noise, rather than printing a set pattern, it would be pretty spot on. I'm not sure if I've been any help here, but I'm trying.

First off, your painting skills are quite good. Because of this, it doesn't look that bad at a glance.
Your problems are more noticeable after we flip the canvas. Most people have a dominant eye, so flipping the image is a good way to check for inconsistences.

Your have conflicting ideas of construction. All of the planes and forms are confusing the viewer on what angle we're seeing the face.
Her eyes are really far apart, if we were to draw over a skull it would be deformed. The barrel of the mouth is over-elongated, I think because you understand we are looking above her and slightly down but you don't understand the planes of the mouth yet to express that. I recommend you work on studying the lower face.
The blue lines are exactly the same length. And this is a problem because the the cheek in Z axis closest to us should be closer and the cheek behind should have a shorter 2d length because of foreshortening. The green lines are to show how much the eyebrow ridge that is suppose to be behind in space looks the same if not longer than the one that is closest towards us. The ear placement is also conflicting with your boxed head orientation.

I use CSP, and I do use a hard round brush (with pen pressure enabled to effect the size/density/opacity) and a soft round brush with the same settings, but for blending out the rough painting, I use the finger tip brush in the blending section, it helps smooth stuff, and a low pressure blurring brush if it's not blending how it should- then back to the finger tip tool.

The equivalent to the finger tip brush in Photoshop is the smudge tool from what I've heard. I wish you luck in your painting.

I think your problem is lack of fluidity and appeal in the figures. Clearly you’re high level at perspective, rendering, textures, values etc... but the same fluidity in the flag is missing from the figure. Level up gesture.

Also, face is 90% of appeal, and this one kinda sucks. Wonky, perspective off, bit of a cunt, non-dimorphic reads as androgynous and gay. Study lookism and grind appealing faces.

Look at Adrian smith. High level painter but amazingly appealing gesture, body language, bone structure and charismatic faces.

Because line control skill is hard to master, it's all about long practice.
