nobody ever mentions how he used to do very technical drawings with a very traditional workflow. Gestural and properly formed while using tons of references. He even admits that for the longest time he would refuse to work ink in because of its immediacy and permanence. I'd say that its absolute mileage that got him there: internalizing elaborate forms after endlessly studying them. He has a curious mind that drives him to draw whatever grabs his attention to study it. Boiling the statement down to "How the FUCK does he do it" underminds the astronomical amount of work he has put in to get himself to this point. The answer is a lot more simple than anyone ever wants to hear. He fucking studied.
