true, but at what cost? I'm not an imaginative person, I'm more a mathematics and logician kind of girl. But when I drew shitty anime in jr high and wanted my mom to acknowledge me, she did the same thing. "it's shit, anime is bad, study loomis, learn to draw real people." And while she was right, 12 year old me spitefully stayed away from all the things that would help me actually be good and I went full weeb.
In the end, I can draw decently enough, but after studying fundies where am I going to get? In the end I have no imagination! All I have ahead of me are commission art requests. What kind of life is that? At this point I still draw because it's become a healthy outlet to vent and express emotion. But even then, they are uninspired pieces of shit.
I think it's important to know the purpose of what you're doing, spite isn't a good enough reason to get gud imo.

I got into foot fetish and femdom from an early age because it was what I first found. Didn't even know what a fetish was, looked it up and found talismans so I was just more confused.
