Their may be elements of "western culture" but not to a degree with which it could be called western. Russia didnt even give a shit about Europe until Peter the Great and even then it has never really followed the cultural trends going on.

I doubly dont agree with the point about colonization. Is mexico western? Is Southern America western? is India western? Obviously not, they're too culturally different.

Africa is africa

Russia being "eastern" is only relevant among europeans, because west europe/east europe. On a major, global level Russia is western because it shared all the *major* trends of europe on average (literature, music, RELIGION, etc)
Don't forget, also, the relationship between russia and France

it's considered overly western or even european considering the history of Austro-Hungary or even the cold war, just because there is a percentage of mongolians there doesn't make it eastern.

Also in contrast, anything west of india and the whole region around malaysia and oceania, is considered western, as is australia. Heck some even don't consider india eastern.

You need to look at the culture and ancestry as a whole, and what tribes from which ethnicity migrated from where.
