What is /ALT/?
If you're looking for a place to post your cartooning then you've found the right general. This is /ic/s 1st and only merged hub where both Eastern and Western stylization can coexist peacefully, hence the double title. However, by community demand and long history, this is favorably an Anime general.

What strikes me the most is that there is not much depth in the pose. She seems to be leaning forward but you can't really see it in perspective. The drapery needs a lot of work, what helps is googling a clothing part and then you see many photos of the same item and notice the pattern of how the folds will go. What will help you achieve more depth is also the lineart, when it comes to art on Pixiv etc, you notice a pattern among different artists. What I'm doing is drawing the lineart with one constant size of the brush and then slightly erasing the center of the lines and thickening the ends when they meet other lines (sorry, I can't pmw at the moment but look for WIP from good anime artists (lineart only or lineart+flat color are the best to see what's happening). It makes a huge difference

New pens are sooo juicy, strokes feel so good when their wet. I was forcing it with this really dry pen and didn’t realize was resisting me until my finger started to hurt.

It's very difficult to critique something like your drawing since it seems you've got the forms down to complement the manner of style you draw. If you are looking to surpass a plateau or expand outside of your comfort zone try to refine forms more while keeping the same simplicity. The tricky part would be conveying the different planes for the head and face while keeping all forms simplified.

More specifically, the face but again this is why it is difficult to critique because the flat face is what helps compliment the figure because everything else is simplified with it. Consider studying mechanical perspective to help foreshorten forms more which would allow you to open more doors for you to describe these forms in space while holding on to the simplicity of it.

Face futures are kinda nice imo you put too many details that makes her less appealing. Her right check should be less visible in that view. It still applies (even thought not exactly the same, hence "slightly") since her nose and jaw indicate that you drew her in profile while the mouth floats somewhere. Perhaps something like pic related (from the Monogatari Series, by the way)? As with where I got the screenshot from, here's a video with an anime head tilt collection (funny how specific, eh?). Another tip for reference: (pause and) take screenshots while you watch anime. Preferably with timestamp and episode number so that you can rewatch the scene if necessary (to see it in action). I did and still do that. Personal best example? Nearly 800 screenshots from One Piece (like pic related).

sorry if this sucks its hard to overpaint at 4 am with an erection
- eyes + mouth forward and up, ear up
- dont go overboard with skin tones, adding too many weird tones ages people up
- highlights get smaller with more reflectivity, skin usually has smooth, spread out highlights unless lubed -> avoid small speculars unless you want a greasy porno look
(i suck at drapery so take the clothes with a grain of salt)
- try to build your clothing with convincing volume
- this goes double for the shadows that define the folds
and finally some personal preference stuff:
- i like to outline (skin especially) with a darker version of the main color, it tends to look more natural
- some HSV adjustments to personal preference (Hue towards red, more saturation, slightly darker)

I appreciate the time you took to critique this but I personally like the look of exaggerated semi-realistic skin shading so it is what I am trying to emulate and the clothes are shaded the way they are for contrast. If there is a way to maintain the goal of my style while improving it that is what I am looking for.
