A lot of people are scared of practicing because they don't like seeing how bad they are. They don't see the point in drawing if it's going to be bad.

But everyone's art looks like that at first. The solution? Make as much of that bad art as you can. Draw what you want to draw to the best of your ability. Learning art is a trial by fire.
This is part of the reason that people who draw as kids end up doing so well as adults. Their art is shit and they don't care, they love drawing it, and improve a little bit each time.
Meanwhile, adults feel that they should already know how to draw decently. That's why it's so painful for them at first - their drawing is "kid quality". When in reality, it's "beginner quality".

Everyone's art sucks at first. Sometimes, it sucks for a long time. But, as long as you aren't mentally disabled, it will eventually look normal after enough practice.
You do draw every day, right? And not fundamentals or grinding. I mean drawing what you would draw if you were good. Try that for at least a year, drawing every day. Seriously, get out a real pen and paper and draw what you want to right now, you gonna power through that shit and post it.

Also stop coming to the artwork thread on fortune. There isn't anything on here that's going to make you a better artist. This place is a terrible time sink, and offers nothing productive.

It's fun if you're a piece of shit who likes bagging on people though.

I think this board is worth coming to just for the books and video course threads.

Good advice. Other than that /ic/ is good for books and material and you can find some pearls in the mud as long as you have the proper mental filters which are part of a healthy imageboard browsing experience
