>actually listen to loomisfags
>life drawing every day for a few years
>learn anatomy
>go through robertson

>still can't draw from imagination
>don't have fun drawing
>pretty much forgot why I ever wanted to draw in the first place
Is that just what happens to every /ic/ anon who doesn't leave this board?

lol you fell for the meme I can't believe it, most people figure out in a few months tops that Loomis/Robertson are worthless for actually learning how to make art.

>> No.4211623

I'll just repeat what I've been saying over and over for all these years - Loomis is fucking GREAT but you only get into him once you already are basically decent at drawing and want to step up your game.
He's not for absolute beginners.

Anime fags don't need Loomis or any books, it just makes them want to quit like you
All you need is Sycra and megamickey or whatever his name is

This guy speaks the truth. After a while I had to accept that I can't create things that don't exist already, basically just lack any kind of useful imagination for drawing. Many péople around here seem to still not made peace with this fact. You either have it or you don't, no point fighting with yourself and denying it.

Gimme a sec, I left my most recent sketchbook at my parents' house, but I still have some stuff from like two years back somewhere, wait a sec

I don't think you have what it takes to do art then. I did the same, life drawing for a few years, learning anatomy, reading Loomis, and I can draw perfectly fine from imagination. (as can 99% of other artists who did the same)

I've literally never had to "practice" drawing from imagination. The only things I've had to do to improve drawing from imagination is to increase my visual library. You might actually be untalented, if talent is a thing. Give up and do something else. It's probably best.

Yeah, I wish.

Alright, turns out all I have at hand is my first year of college, so four years ago now, and it's not like I don't know it's shit. Museum trip first, then a brief period when I only did ballpoint sketches, than the portrait I did for college entrance

Maybe, that's why I went for graphic design instead of studio art for my major. Good call on all fronts, seeing the kind of shit they pull off these days

Funny thing, I started actually counting three years back, but after around 300 didn't bother anymore. It's a meme, though, anyway

You know there's theory and practice in this, right? I'd say me and pic rel have the same problem

>> No.4211879

So, do you actually draw regularly or once in a blue moon?

>> No.4211880

>>4211860
It's a meme in the sense that the exact hours don't matter that much (I think real mastery is much higher than just 10k) but it's not a meme in the sense that you really do need an insane amount of mileage to get any good.

Your gains are not counted in years of sitting on your ass but hours of drawing and a couple of hundred hours mean fuck all.

You need to actually apply what you're learning to imagination. If you just mindlessly copy without drawing from imagination you won't apply what you've learned and just become good at copying,
