Why would I post my work? I’m an established professional with around 60k followers on insta. I also have a fairly distinctive style that’s easily recognizable, chances are that most of you have even heard of me before. I’ve seen an art book or two of mine and some gumroad stuff floating around in the book threads too so obviously my art is appealing/desirable. I have some canvasses that I bought for a good value and some paint

but doing digital I have a fear of spoiling the canvas going back to when I couldn't afford a new one and now money is tight because our heating is bust but I could get another canvas you know.

However being poor makes you in that mindset that a good pair of socks needs to be saved for a special occasion.

It is character building.

Now I have the tools I need, including oil to mix down oil paints, I am afraid to paint - or maybe too comfortable, without struggle. I don't know but I need to paint.

What you "should" make a note of are the planes of the face, the values and the edges. I painted as close to traditional as I could in digital to kind of support the idea.

Colors literally don't matter as long as the values are good. So there was no need for me to add color, your color palette will do just fine as long as you work on your fundamentals.

You're a traditional painter for christ sake. Go study some Sargent or Zorn.
