Are "vanishing points" just bullshit? Pic related looks beautiful and has no vanishing points. All of the lines of perspective just go in one direction completely horizontal of eachother.

Just learned about isometric projection in class, did you?

Congratulations, you just discovered that things can look good without realism and instead the use of deliberate flatness.

Are "beginner threads" just bullshit? No they're not and you should relegate every single dumb fucking thought you ever have while on this board to be posted only in them. They exist to catch dumbass fucking people like you.

A thread died for this.

Is this trolling or stupidity?

I can't tell anymore.

Wow these replies really prove why people stay away from /ic/ even if they are regular chan users and interested in art. It's all a bunch of assholes who are insecure and need to let their unease out by lashing out at beginners

It's easier to direct the beginners that don't show up eating the crayons they're supposed to draw with.

What kind of a response is appropriate for, "Are vanishing points just bullshit?"

Just, how do you respond to that?

You are a little child. You have shit on your shoe. You just took off your shoe and asked us, your parents, if you could eat it. And we said "yes, junior, you can go ahead and eat shit you dumb little fuckery of a cuntmeister".

Linear perspective sort of is. Roman eyeball perspective is arguably more lifelike when you have many objects at various distances.
Your image is orthographic, though.

slightly off topic but i really can't stand niggers.

phew, glad i got that off my chest.

fucking nigger.

>> No.4172193

Yes. They're for pretentious artists who think that just because they used something in their art with a fancy word that they are good.

Real art doesn't have vanishing points, like the one you just posted.

Isometrics are a great way to visualize 3d objects in a 2D space. The isometric view is a distortion of vision and allows for points that are further away to seem the same size. This can be great for archetectural drawings where measurements need to be exact all the way around however if you are looking to capture the natural human viewpoint or even what a camera would capture this method is flawed and will not give you results.

It really depends on what you want to achieve in your art ultimately but it is not and cannot be used a substitute for vanishing points.

Indeed, objects just appear smaller when they are away from the viewer. Every object keeps the same size no matter from where you look at them. Your eyes are bullshit. Perspective in drawing just emulates the way your eyes deceive you.

>> No.4172675

If you had any common sense, you would have eventually come to the realization that an orthographic perspective doesn't work if you lower the camera to where the line of sight is parallel to the ground plane.
