Not that guy but you realize that every proprietary software including the modules that operate your car is owned by the manufacturer even if you pay off the asset? You do not own anything, you are merely given a license which is a privilege to be able to use whatever product you paid for and they may relinquish it anytime and anyhow they see fit per terms and conditions which you never read.

Ever wonder why you have to take your car back to the dealership due to a repair that nobody else can fix? That's because they own the specialty tools necessary to communicate with the software and unless you pony up thousands of dollars for a 1 year subscription with the manufacturer's software they got you by the balls it's called survival.
