How can i stop using mspaint? im addicted. No other art software will do.

Please, I am losing my mind.

>> No.4154145

Use mypaint instead. It has an infinite canvas and runs on my 2007 thinkpad x60.

Is it the binary brush? I feel you. I used to draw all the time in MSpaint out of my head because of that one brush. I dunno what it was but it made my brain fill in the gaps with cool poses even though the anatomy was shitty.

Try Clip Studio anon! There is a similar binary brush there and you can set any other brush there to work as binary plus having the thickness pressure variation.

no, sir, you misunderstood. I bootlegged photoshop. I own CSP EX. But i still can't use anything but mspaint. I just dont understand why i just can't make the move.

>>4154159
Yeah, that one, and the crayon brush. But I know I need to expand to more professional software to be more productive, and to circumvent mspaint's shortcomings, which tricks like the specific-color-eraser and other things can only help with so much, you know?

clip studio also has a set of free pixel brushes you can get on the store

also have you tried sai? there's a binary brush and it's pretty solid program while also being simple and lightweight.

Hmm, that's pretty cool. I didn't realise it was a thing to be honest! Buuuuut... I feel that's exactly WHY im using mspaint. That is to say, i use the binary brush and crayon as a crutch. I can't use "real brushes" or pressure sensitivity or thin lines or anything like that. I used to be able to, at least to some degree... but not anymore, and it makes me upset and lacking in confidence.

you could get the pixel brushes to warm up to clip studio, and try out other brushes along the way, getting used to those other brushes

ahhh, I see. I suppose that's a pretty obvious plan of action after all, then, duh. Thank you! I will consider doing this.

So I was definitely thinking like you in around 2015 and 2016. I remember I tried going to Corel Painter to use the pencil brushes that had a tilt to them to make it feel like I'm shading with a real pencil. It helped BUT corel has these shit bugs where the brush decides to go transgender in size and the canvas makes these streaks that I can't get rid of no matter how much I zoom in and out. I don't know how the latest version is but I tried buying an older version and it was even worse.

I think the reason for me using mspaint at the time was that it allowed me to think of big shape and no matter how the shape turned out I could make something out of it. There was no plan to put it short. So because there was no plan I felt no responsibility to learn about controlling pen pressure or advancing to learn how to paint.

good luck! I fuckin love ms paint so i feel the pain, i can't really stay with one program. i keep bouncing between paint, krita, csp, and now corel since it's been on sale

I was a big fan of MS Paint back in the day, I know the software inside out (hope you're using Paint XP, motherfucker).

Paint Tool SAI is the only drawing software I've ever got myself accustomed with.
Used to use Fireworks MX 2004 back in the day for digital painting and it was painstaking.
Then I tried Photoshop and things didn't improve.
SAI got me excited about drawing from the first time I tried it out.

CSPaint is garbage and almost as stiff as Photoshop.
