No offense but you guys' standards are depressingly low. This is some mediocre rendering on top of mediocre drawing. No real improvement from April to August either. I's just more rendered, in a not very good way. It *is* an improvement so congratulations to the artist but it's not time for them to rest and be content now, still a long way to go. Unless they're satisfied with this level, in which case whatever. I just don't know why anybody would find this level of improvement unbelievable. Not posting my personal work. I'll post a study that I've already posted before. Doesn't matter if you shit on it, it's a study. But it should prove I'm not just gassing. I don't even mean what I said in a bad way, I'm only being honest. I have long way to go myself and I'm constantly reminding myself of that. And if this artist is honest with himself, he'll admit it sooner or later. You should be honest with yourselves as well if you want to keep growing.

/ic/ is weird in that it has some pretty competent, even good artists, alongside tons of beginners, and each group largely sticks to its segregated zone. If you frequented /draw/, /alt/, /las/, and self-promo threads, basically anything outside and /beg/ and shitpost threads, you wouldn't be shocked that someone would consider OP mediocre. This is why
"better than 99% of /ic/" posts might be funny but are actually pretty fucking wrong.
/ic/ is a constant carousel of wide-eyed beginners coming from other boards, the struggling low-level intermediates who were once wide-eyed, and the few who broke beyond resistance and have figured it out, or are on the way to figuring it out.

To have any hope of getting in the last set, you need to be fiercely analytical (not overly critical) of your own work, and goal-oriented, and put in lots of hours. Those who make it long term understand this. All I was saying is that the guy isn't there yet, not that he can't get there, and that you should set your standards high even if you never reach them.
