No we're a het couple. He thinks me wanting to hang it is just me trying to be edgy, but I genuinely think Saturn Devouring His Son is a very pure example of "raw art". I adore Ferdinand's work. Out of all the creepy artists, somehow I think his work best captures what my nightmares are like.

Also, anyone else kinda enjoy their nightmares? Like, I don't mean to sound edgy or some shit, but they're kinda interesting. Not only do the contents themselves provide good reference/inspiration, but they also put you in a weird mood that also helps with ideas at the time.

Pic related is my favourite Beksiński work. Also the only one I find that really affects me. While the others have a wonderfully creepy aesthetic and are beautifully painted, this is the one that always gives me that weird feeling. Rather than being so blatantly nightmarish like the others, it feels almost like something real that has been horribly distorted and made wrong. Like the way dreams always something weird about them

I always love this one, even though I think it's technically mediocre. That dark, shadowy figure in such a sunlit, tropical environment makes it way creepier than a shadow among shadows would be.

The fact that his darkness seems to defy direct sunlight makes it all the more surreal and unnatural.

Dan is honestly one of the few artists that I continuously have great interactions with. He's friendly and clearly loves his work. He's self aware when it comes to how close his work resembles max verihen's but I feel like max's work is never pushed as far as it needs to be to really un-nerve. While dan hits the perfect notes

my favorite of his, is actually the very first painting I saw of his work. It's just a study, but I jolted back in a way I've never done before when I saw it. The tagline was : "spot the sneaky peeper"

you might be a brainlet but ultimately horror means different things to different people. Horror for some people is more about the implication and atmosphere of things rather than something explicit like a horrible tentacle monster/boo scary creature or excessive gore. Its extremely difficult to communicate horror through a static image due to the fact that you don't have the luxury of building tension through multiple images like a comic or minutes of film like a movie backed by a soundtrack and genuine horror lives and dies within tension and fear of the unknown. With a static image, what you see is what you get.

That image does a good job capturing tension with its implication. Did that door open on its own or was it always like that? Whats lurking behind it? Why does the dog seem so tense? Did he hear something? Color wise, everything feels very pale and sickly rather than saturated and warm. There's a very deep darkness behind that door in which i cant see a god damn fucking thing despite the seemingly well lit room i appear to be in. It creates a feeling of uneasiness and i'm unnerved.

if the image does nothing for you that's totally fine. It's just a dumb picture of a door bro, don't sweat it.

As if not liking Beksinski's works because he is popular on reddit has anymore weight than buying apple products. Those people are probably deviating from the norm in their small social group, you are just doing it from reddit.

You are both "deviating from the norm" in a useless, meaningless way exclussively for the purpose of just being able to feel different and a "rebel" withouth actually having anything of what makes a true rebel admirable.

I too am the same. To me they are purposeful, if that's understandable. As if i am most realized during those strange nightmares. The experience is too new, too strange, too primal for me to think, or plan, or reflect. My nightmares are so alien that during them i don't even remember i'm a human from earth. I simply am
