CSP is really intuitive and easy to pickup, especially if you know PS. No tips needed, you'll get comfy in no time.

>> No.3838115

CSP > PS
Go ahead and switch, PS is an photo editor with digital drawing/painting capabilities tacked on as an afterthought.

yeah just do what you did in ps in csp dummy. if you get stuck with trying to find something like a ps thing google it.

Would say a week or two depending on how much time you want to invest in. CSP is quite intuitive and is more than often only so complicated as you want it to be with its adjustability
A little tip: pressing <Tab> will minimize all the opened tool windows, press it again to open them up again. Wish i had known this earlier.
Press <shift>+<Tab> to cycle through what you want to see from the menus and window upper corner for even a little more drawing space.

PS vs CSP vs Sai (1 or 2), who wins?

>> No.3838179

Been using CSP over photoshop for about two years and a half now, and i'm mostly positive about it.
My main interest is drawing comics and line art, so that's a big factor in why i find CSP better for my needs.
It has good perspective tools/rulers, it has page flip that doesn't actually re-render the whole image, and a whole bunch of other small things that add up to a much better experience.

For more painting endeavors though, it lacks a brush engine as intricate, and the ability to tinker with colors through filters and menus is limited, you don't get stuff like Content Aware, which can be useful to create random, interesting textures.

So i'd say depends on what you do, in terms of art.
Even then though, i'd sooner give a look into other stuff like Sketchbook Pro, before going back to photoshop, given its pricetag.

CSP, sai fell behind in the period CSP went from being a purely manga thing that kinda worked to having the best pen and an okay brush engine alongside a mountain of artist focused tools. Photoshop is and has always only been good for photomanipulation and effects.

best digital comic tool on the market. there is nothing else so completely dedicated to comics, illustration, and animation.

Would go for CSP, best of all worlds and more than often you can get it discounted for like 15~20 bucks.
PS: When you are planing to work professionally in the field with a buisness backround. It simply is the industry standard. (Little tip: Photoshop CS2 is unofficially free, look it up)
Sai: When you want it simple and effective, and the fast workflow with that, while you are okay that it can do the the least of all three.
CSP: 80% of what PS can do art related. I would say weaker hardware acceleration than PS, while at the same time not so resource hungry, there are certain scenarios where one if better than the other. Got additional focus on creating comics. Can do picture per picture frame animations with the later versions.

is there a way to make csp's brushes feel less shitty? they're all so syrupy and weird compared to photoshop

>> No.3838216

there should be brush downloads from other users around the web, but going into brush settings has its advantages to customize to you preferred feel.

Hours upon hours reading the engrish manual and learning how to create and edit brushes. It's a pretty powerful engine that takes a lot of work to adjust. Download some off Clip Studio to see what they're set at and edit other brushes into them. Eventually you end up making all your own brushes on the fly.

Fuck with settings, https://assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/, set a hotkey for turning on and off mix ground, turn down stabilizers. Not sure what you mean by syruppy. The only thing really missing for me with the brushes is lack of dual texture like photoshop but even then CSP has some features PS doesn't.
