This. Aim for your best every time you draw, you'll improve. Also drawing forms, perspective, and observation and by extension, imagination. Also not blindly following whatever artguy #42069 says without thinking if artguy#42069 is making sense or not(he might seem reasonable but potentially has just a bunch of conclusions without any premise). The last one is a huge time saver, but pretty much common sense.

Have you ever gotten that sense while you are drawing that you are actually working in a 3D space? You start thinking in terms of forward, back, up down, closer further etc. basically as soon as I lose that mindspace I stop and revisit construction to see what’s going wrong.

try to think of objects in terms of the simple primitives that comprise them. then practice rotating them in your mind and drawing from each of the different angles. another thing you can do is to draw the object and then put in imaginary mirror in the scene at any arbitrary point & draw the reflection. you can keep adding mirrors until your brain overheats

its more important to be loose rather than quick when it comes to making underdrawings. make sure you're being deliberate in your shapes and really analyze your pose, making adjustments for silhouettes and clarity. so slow down and think harder, but stay loose and think of your whole drawing; don't get fixated on certain parts so your drawing doesn't get stiff/awkward. the point of slowing down and thinking harder is to help you visualize things in your minds eye better, so eventually you can draw straight-ahead on the page just using a visualized pose in your imagination as the reference or initial sketch. its more approachable than you think, but like any skill it requires constant practice and maintenance.

he derailed everything single thread he posted by flooding it with rants and empty replies. He'd create multiple threads per week as his personal blog and would reply to every critique with denial and dumb assumptions. "Oh you think grids are bad and I shouldn't mix straight black in my skin tones? You probably never painted in your whole life, you dont even know what graphite transfer is, you bozo. Also time is entropy, its just a meme bro I'm pretending to be retarded etc etc.".
And he'd attach one of his paintings as a ""reaction"" to every single post which made it more obvious it was him posting and got him more attention, basically avatarfagging.
I wish he'd go back to his trip so we could just filter him out

Started a year ago and improved a lot. Still beginner obviously. I wish I didn't post most of my work to friends otherwise I'd show better examples. This is just a page of me fucking around. Never said I was good, just answering OPs question.
>drew outlines of people
>when drawing gestures, made sure to look for relationships I could use
>getting out of comfort zone
I just don't post them because they're worse than pic related and it's mostly experimenting with things I've avoided until now.
>accepting being bad in order to push through.
>using pen and not erasing

On the surface it looks like all I do is doodle but I do practice a lot. Though i draw a small amount of time. 20 minutes on average by myself. Maybe up to an hour. On a good day or with drawpile I usually go up to 3 or 5 hours.
