Is it really necessary to draw these guys in boxes? It seems like a lot of extra work that could be simplified in a photo study. Just saying.

based image poster.

I'm going with perspective from Oslon now, and i have red HTD, also i know general anatomy, what do you anons recommend as a "transition training" where some one actually starts to draw characters as simple forms?

I already know Krenz, i'm planning to start with him maybe, but is there something else you would recommend?

olson is a waste of time. there is no transition, just draw. you should feel comfortable drawing some figures from construction. krenz's studies are for himself. his philosophy is from doing all these angles, he doesn't have to study them again. you're not supposed to copy his studies, figure out your own simplifications. there are some good subbed lecture on this.

>> No.3768999

Try Peter Han's Dynamic Sketching and Hampton's lectures and books. Basically you need to start to do a lot of freehanded forms without relying on plotting out perspective grids.

there was a really similar one to this he made, anyone got it?

Thank you anons. I was doin Peter Hans lectures before i started Olson, i was looking at my homework sketches and ones i did from Hans course are indeed more organic and lively. No wonder, he starts with organic right away. Not saying Olson is bad in any way. But contrast is very interesting when i look on them side by side.

>>3768955
Do you remember who the author of those subbed lectures? I know Krenz have subbed lectures, and this famous korean artist who draws evetything free hand also have lectures, not sure about subs on this one.

Don't stop doing Olson, anon. He teaches you how to make cubes in perspective better than anyone else. The reason Olson's stuff doesn't look organic is because it isn't supposed to be. Don't give up on them.
