Here are the facts:
I want to draw well, so I can capture and share the beauty and uniqueness of people. I know I can get better if I practice. However, nearly every time I try to practice I get into a bad mindset of not being able to draw well and I go full tilt on every mistake without slowing down to check for accuracy. I recognize this is a bad mindset and want to change. How do I remain positive, calm, and careful while drawing? Has anyone else been through a similar situation and ended up reaching their goals? I'd ask this in the beginner thread but I don't know how many people there consider themselves practiced enough to answer.

Case in point. I tried drawing again and now I feel like hurting myself for being so shit. I should give up trying, right?

You are on the right track. Just keep practicing. There are no shortcuts and every good artist used to suck in the beginning.

Don't overwhelm yourself with art and feel overwhelmed. Take it slow and be patient. And enjoy the process. Drawing is something you'll never master so "grinding till u git gud" isn't really viable. Try to enjoy yourself. But yes, it is rough at the beginning.
