The Loomis got translated in various languages by shitty tier /int/ wannabe which is the reason for "Draw the rest of the fucking owl" meme.
In some cases, Loomises books were "translated" with just pictures and 1/3 of the instructions which resulted in Loomis becoming a meme.

Proco explains shit pretty well, straight to the point which helps him avoid Vill POO droning syndrome or "repeat same obvious shit over and over again" trait that many modern atelier teacher tend to share.
There is literally the only teacher that I knew that goes straight to the most important points without wasting hours on mindless dronning or repeating really obvious things over and over again.

This is what shitters here will never understand. Imaginative drawing has been peddled as some sort of detrimental /beg/ meme, when in reality, imaginative drawing is the fucking endgame of visual art. Coltrane didn’t just pick up a saxophone one day and bust out Giant Steps from imagination. It took thousands and thousands of hours of fundamental practice to reach that level.

I hope you guys know the reason you're sucking at this whole figure drawing thing is not the anatomy, but the whole mechanics of the body. Seemingly every single tutorial out there seems to skip over this however this sole thing is the reason you're suffering from drawing figures.

Twisting, bending, sitting, running, about to action, crouching, etc. These subtleties in the figure seem to be glossed over in favor of poses that are just standing there in a hollywood lamp floor room. Not to mention foreshortening and perspective.

Knowing this will speed up your understanding rather than getting it wrong/guessing like a total retard. The body behaves drastically in these situations.

I have all of this. Honestly, IMO, the bundle isn't worth it, thought initially I'd thought it was:

1) It adds only about 10-15% of info to his free videos, what a surprise for a purchaser!
So, he gives 90% for free and 10% for $300. It's generous, but it makes no sense in buying unless you just want to support Proko.

2) After all, he's not very interesting as an artist; I don't mean he's bad, there are a lot of awful ones, he's good; but simply not inspiring, too overestimated; I've found a lot of interesting guys that much more "arty" at figure drawing, but they has 10-15 times less subscribers.

3) IMO, if I had had to spend 200-300 bucks on art education, I would visit a local artist studio

>> No.3691772

>>3691754
>90% for free

Not really but it depends on the video

The "How to Draw Butts" video is 50% longer in premium than youtube, his "Drawing Hands I" video goes from 9 minutes to 17 minutes, an increase of almost 100%, "Drawing Hands II" goes from 15 minutes to 22, another 50% increase etc.

Indeed, some videos appear to change very little but the ones that do change, and having access to the best 3D content and his books make it well worth it in my opinion.

If you want to really catch the anatomy, you have to dig real sources, like Gottfried Bammes, not the few fifteen-minutes-long videos. That's a delusion, IMO. If you want to work with 3d models, you have install 3ds max or whatever and download or buy 3d models and work with them thoroughly. Browsing on Proko's site won't give you this depth. And so on.

And I've also realized that it's not the "anatomy" meme that makes a figure drawing amazing. Moreover, you can even toss your anatomy out completely (though that's a bad advice). But the mastery of the line, the focal point, the perspective, the flow of the pencil, the vividness, the contrasts, the composition, the play, etc. That's what I see in the works I like and I want to follow.

Not going to convince you or anything, but since you've asked...

Bingo, that's just one example of things that I personally dislike in figure drawing sketches (though I'm a total toy and don't have a professional opinion or anything to be followed).

>> No.3691920

>>3691908
Yeah. I spent years doing exactly that, and wondering why my sketches quickly became hard to follow, as well as detail. It wasn't until Vilppu explained something so simple in his lectures, of just
>light basic preliminary marks, of shit like lines and ellipses, is fine
>THINK through the forms, but DRAW only what you would SEE
That it all instantly clicked. And when I say instantly, I mean legit the first time I tried drawing after watching his lecture, everything instantly made sense and I could do it.

And all because he showed me how to keep the sketch clean. It's utterly ridiculous.

But I have to preface something. Vilppu's teachings here aren't magic. I've spent literal months drawing nothing but primatives, and their intersections, years (poorly) doing figure drawings, and like a quarter of a year studying nothing but isolated anatomy on a relatively daily basis.
So going in, I knew:
>perspective
>primitives
>form intersection
>proportions
>gesture
>weight and forces
and a whole slew of other shit.

So I had the skills required to do what he's teaching, I had just never known how.
