When I started 18 months ago, my plan was to draw porn and I drew nothing but women the first 6 months.
But nowadays I often want to draw and paint other things besides women, I am enjoying watercolor and doing still-live studies plus the occasional "tasteful" nude drawing but actual porn isn't going to happen anymore, I just don't see the appeal anymore since I wasn't able to tell anyone about my attempt to get good at drawing when all my work is porn. Glad I no longer have to hide it and especially glad I'm no longer have such a limited goal.

You're being an idiot. What Jesus looks like is constantly being interpreted differently by different cultures. Chinese paintings about Jesus are done in the style of Chinese paintings, and Euroepan oil paintings portray him as "European". Not even blond, but just more Caucasian than usual.
As far as references go, They are typically based on a model. Or they have things like the Shroud of Turin as references. A lot of "sacred images" are also based on visions of Jesus.
