Being anonymous gives people a sense of power and a great deal of people like to act out for attention. Especially younger people who like being the center of attention by any means because they haven't developed their personalities enough yet to stand out on their own merits.

It's just something people do.

>> No.3372470

>>3372446

I don't understand this. This is something someone without an actual answer or explanation says.

People kicked you around and you do it to other people because it's the way it is. It's not "tough love" or "honest criticism". You're just acting out frustrating on other people that were visited on you. In this environment it's all you know. Acting against that established order would require standing for yourself and you didn't do that to begin with. You fell in line and assimilated bad behavior.

This is the thing a coward says,

Ridicule isn't motivation. It's what a bully says to shake off the blame of being a bully.

You don't have to kiss someone's ass. That's ridiculous. But you know the difference between actually helping someone without filter and giving them the truth on their standing and just being a vicious, lolcow hungry dickhead.

Or maybe you don't. I don't know.

Art communities are dreadful for just telling everyone everything looks great. Society has got so that it frowns upon any criticism, so to be able to do so requires anonymity

This. Not everybody here is a dickhead. But the people that are, only act that way because they were treated that way. They were hurt emotionally and now they act out against people in defense of their feelings. If they act like a token douchebag with a copypaste personality, they don't risk being hurt by personally investing in a community.

First off I'm only here to shitpost in a friendly manner (when I should be drawing) and to occasionally cheer people on when they get crab'd on for (IMO) no reason. So I don't know what you're talking about, buddy. Second off, you should know that being able to draw motivation from ridicule is a beautiful character trait and that endless praise can only give you more harm than good. Why people act the way they do is none of my concern and it should be none of yours.

That's not it at all.

I truly believe that people who have genuinely given an effort will become strongly opinionated, and will react more passionately when it comes to something they know.

How many times have you seen a dumbass fuck something up and wish you could just slap him across his thick fucking skull? But you couldn't because that's not what humans are allowed to do? Well that doesn't apply here. I mean you still can't slap anybody across the head but you can do what you can - with your keyboard.

it's an initiation rite for you to git gud, if anon artist keeps hearing praises about their art. It'll boost their narcissistic ego, and they'll get stuck up on their "art style". Besides, the real world is filled with much worst crabs anyway, from employment, etc.

At some point you'll realize most people that post here do it to blogpost about their misreable lives.
The few that post their art are the ones that should receive help, even if their art is shit. The problem with this board is that there are too many blogposts and meta threads, this one included, that get all the attention. Most users would rather procrastinate and shittalk about some random e-celeb trash and "should I even draw" threads than actually do art and help their peers.

I'll admit I've been helpful to crybabies that feel down about their abilities, but after who knows how many threads I realized it's a huge waste of time. Help those that deserve help, ignore crybabies that make blog and attention posts, and this board will become a much better place.

>> No.3375688

Because shitposting is mildly entertaining and it's impossible to be fully invested in someone's art progress if they're anonymous and therefore that progress isn't visible and also everyone here's so afraid to post anything that isn't fundies that all the art's boring and shit anyway, would honestly rather everyone was posting work that sucks technically if that at least meant every work wasn't a landscape or naked people floating in a void.
You know what, scratch the first point, I wouldn't give a shit if all the "naked people floating in a void" drawers got an identity associated with their work anyway, there's nothing with any personality here.

>> No.3377552

Everyone here's a whiny, unmotivated shitbaby so I don't know how you could possibly get "ridicule generates motivation to get better" out of the current state of the board.

How old are you? You type like a child. Telling people to grow up when you self-proclaimingly ""shitpost.""
That aside, you're stating the obvious (Accepting mean criticism is a good trait) when the entire conversation is about why they do it. Instead of addressing the point you're blaming those who can't take the criticism when you know good and well that's not the problem we're trying to discuss.

So
>Why people act like this is none of my or your concern
does nothing but avoid the question and at that point why even bother replying? We're not talking about people being able to take criticism, but why people give unhelpful, generally shit advice, or insults in the place of genuine critique instead of jacking off to precious anime they struggle to draw.

I'm in a chat where people share animation and art. No anonymous tags.
Guess who the people are that give harsh "criticism?" The people who have no idea what they're talking about and those who aren't even good. They'd tell someone who was better than them in every way they sucked and that they could do better.

Most of the experienced people who know what they're talking about are the ones giving the most constructive, concise and helpful critiques. No insults. Only (Sometimes if it's not getting through to the person.) harsh truths.
There are exceptions but I only know one or two. They're usually the people who are insecure asshats outside of criticism, and their critiques consist of 'this is shit.' because they're terrible at actually giving advice in all.
