what is the lowest level professional, or person making a living off of art that you've seen (not on patreon)? can you show their work? I just want to see how skilled is "enough"

>> No.3102285

Kinda retarded question, since you can be earning 200 USD per month and if you live in a shithole country with weak currency its gonna be enough to "live off of art". And with personal commissions you can be literally drawing stick figures and still find clients.

enough is whatever you've found to work. some make a living pouring paint over a spinning canvas by convincing retards it's art. some study their entire lives and never sell anything. marketing skill is all you need for money and any artistic skill you have will be detrimental to this effort.

are you serious? you need a reality check. go visit your nearest mall and find the home decor shithole for housewives and retired people. look at the 'art' they sell. if you only care about making a living, this is the minimum skill level. enough to apply paint to canvas.

Theres this chick in my hometown and her art is really popular here, she goes to all the street fairs and saturday market and shit like that.
Her work is just super ugly to me.

Holy shit it actually is Zapata, I didnt notice the LOTC logo or his name, I just assumed its some random lowtier deviantart shit.
How the fuck did this get approved

>> No.3102550

Fucking take a guess.

There are comic artists making a living from drawing stick figures.

>> No.3102559

This assumes the ability to get a funded patreon is dependent only on art skill.

It depends on the art itself:
-Subject matter (original/fanart, genders, sexual content)
-Style (cute vs realistic, originality, how well your art stands out at a glance, how easy it is to identify your work)
-Speed at which you can churn out content

And on shit completely unrelated to the physical art
-Your social media presence
-your connections
-how well you write the patreon
-how well you advertise it
-your reputation
-what rewards you choose and how many you can give
-price of living where you live

etc etc

Why does everything look good at a glance? Like if you actually look at it then everything is all fucked up and it's shitty but if you just focus on the panels and zoom by you don't even notice how shit it is. Is it the colorist and inker holding up the shitty penciller?

I feel bad for the colorist/inker. Imagine being given those shit drawings and little-to no time to ink and paint everything. Probably shit writing too. They/he still manages to create some sort of slick aesthetic, poor dude, polishing someone else's turd for a living.

The art isn't terribly bad or anything desu, it's fairly average imo. It's just that this dude has to stop drawing those derpy ass faces on squirrel girl. Literally just change that one thing and the quality shoots up by a 100.
