Seeing how much this artist tinkers with the drawing got me thinking.

How well can you see the image in your head before you draw /ic/?

I can't picture anything in my head so I have to draw nonsense in the paper until I see images....

Depends, sometimes it just comes to me and sometimes I have to create it on the paper. Good taste though, what kind of artist you look up to, OP?

Weird. The animation is pretty impressive, but the art he's posted on Pixiv is not.

With me,its a surprise what my hand comes up with. I start with a vague idea, and let the hand explore it:small lines as reference points to where the main figure is,gaps to where parts overlap, and eventually something emerges borne of Chaos and Random strikes of the pen like snowflakes defining the shape underneath.

He only ever draws with the Pixiv chat tool.

I'm curious to how will his art look like when he uses real software.

I often work in the same way. Drawing up ideas is most enjoyable to me when I'm acting intuitively and thinking reactively.

tbqgdh I think people who idolize "visionaries" are the same kind of assholes that say they have photographic memories.

Got a good laugh out of me at how pathetic you are.

>Scientific skeptic author Brian Dunning reviewed the literature on the subject of both eidetic and photographic memory in 2016 and concluded that there is "a lack of compelling evidence that eidetic memory exists at all among healthy adults, and no evidence that photographic memory exists. But there's a common theme running through many of these research papers, and that's that the difference between ordinary memory and exceptional memory appears to be one of degree."

You're easily impressed.
Drawabox, Scott robertson, Vilppu - every day, for a couple months.
The paper will transform into a 3D space you can reach into and bring your forms out of at a whim.

You still need to learn the remaining fundamentals and know your subject matter, but I'd say this is the closest to a "magical secret to drawing" that I can think of.

I always likened my visualization to that of a dream--the idea, main colours, lighting and mood are there, the composition is there, but the details and specifics of the scene may be blurred and ill defined. As I start drawing it I gradually solve the drawing issues, add in details, look up references etc to fill it all in properly to reach a fully realized image.

I used to sometimes do speedpainting based on abstract blobs at the start and no prior idea since it was a common exercise at the time, but have since stopped that and focus on trying to visualize it as clearly as I can before starting so I have a stronger idea behind my image and a more deliberate composition.
