Hey /ic/, what's your personality type according to the MBTI? do you think this reflects in any way on your artwork? how?

>link to the short accurate as fuck test:

By the way, even if you don't post in this thread, you should take the test anyways. It's pretty cool and reading those accurate results might even help you on something, idk.

MBTI is pretty pseudo-scientific nonsense. It works the same way as horoscopes or cold reading, through the Forer Effect.

We could as well measure our skull and facial features and come to conclusions about our art.

>> No.1904371

>>1904364
OP here, I agree, but it doesn't take away the fact that it's still accurate. Instead of making the people from /ic/ describe their whole life and personality, we can just ask them 4 letters and have a rough yet good idea about it. What I was basically asking is how someone's personality can affect their art production or results, and perhaps getting to know the average personality of the other anons that come here.

What I say is: It doesn't work. Like at all.
It says the things you want to hear.

Lemme do that to you... uuuuhhh.. my internet test sense says that you OP...
... have a tendency to be critical of yourself.
... OP, you pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof.
... At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved.
... You have been hurt somewhere in the past
... and you ate spaghetti at least once in your life

Am I right?

>> No.1904382

>>1904377
I don't quite agree with that. I found myself reading the other types searching for things we would share and I didn't see pretty much anything I could relate to, most of the things were in the type the test gave me (INTP). Of course, there are things in the INTP that aren't 100% true about myself because there's no way the test's descriptions can be 100% accurate, but it still is the one that defines me the best. It's just a classification of averages according to the things you already told it via doing the test. If it told me the things I want to hear it would tell me how handsome and alpha I am, instead of telling me that I lack determination and social skills.

And the test doesn't tell you things from the past like you said, or at least not on the website I tested and posted. That would be stupid.

MBTI are vague enough that you can recognize yourself, yes.
But it also improves over horoscopes by parrotting what the person answered to the Test.
Not all Cancers are moody, but all Introverteds are, well, introverted to some degree.

For example:
> I'm easily tired when around people. I dislike noises. I don't go outside. I like spending time alone.

Obviously, I'll be classified as "introverted": below are two statements taken from an introverted and an extroverted Type:

> xxxx doesn't like to lead or control people
> xxxx loves to interact with people

That's why it works so well. Of course I don't like leading people. It is true. But it doesn't tell me anything that I didn't already know.

Well, fictional characters would need to be incredibly realistic, consistent and detailed in the way they are written before you can decide of their type.

And for dead guys, they obviously didn't take the test, so I find absurd to assign a clear Type based only of what little is known of their life or on their writings.

By the way, you guys need to look at functions. MBTI is pretty worthless and bullshit if you just focus on the letters and personality garbage. It's more about how you think, rather than how you're like.

>fictional characters would need to be incredibly realistic, consistent and detailed in the way they are written
First MBTI would need to be incredibily consistent and detailed.
They are estimates, you just watch the general behaviour of a character and estimate that the character has this certain type. Many times these characters are developed with something in mind.
>oh this character will be a leader
>this guy is stubborn
If the character has a personality and consistency, I don't see anything wrong about estimating a MBTI for him.

About dead people, usually "MBTI experts" study these dead people works, biographies, anything they left.

I'm not really into Socrates, so I don't know what resources they used to estimate him.

For example, Nikola Tesla is estimated as an INTJ by many, but some consider him an ENTP. Those who identify him probably have read some of his biographies, how people described him.

Of course as I said, I don't know what they used to identify Socrates, maybe if you are really curious you should search about him.

At first I thought something similar, but then I decided to real Tesla Man out of Time and what they say in the book actually fits an INTJ.

Romanticism, huh.
Well if that's what I like then that's what I like, I guess.

I am an illiterate when it comes to most 'genres' so this is interesting at least.

Reading up on it kind of reflects my taste, indeed.

I have to admit though that I was semi unconsciously attracted more to works I couldn't see myself creating myself.

Like more complex perspective and detail vs something that was relatively simple.

I tried to not make that influence me too much but I couldn't help it. The brain likes what it likes.

I do like realism on its own though but I guess in a pick and choose scenario it loses out.

Makes me wish that I were more literate about all this though to analyze myself further.

>in b4 you're a faggot
Well on top of that, of course.

Maaan, whaaat? I love cartoons, bright colors, strong expressions and stylization so I naturally like expressionism.
But Baroque can be kickass too, the example pictures just fail when they are shown in a size as small as my pinkyfinger-nail.

But from all the old masters I always liked El Greco most and found Caravaggio boring, even though I have seen tons of Caravaggio in person. So kill me).
