If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

Retarded question but it's 5AM. I leave paper unattended in my home office and it always gets these weird grease stains. Literally turned to a fresh page yesterday afternoon, closed up the office and left everything alone until just now, it couldn't be food or drink. Cats maybe? Paper soaks up weird amount of moisture? Ceiling leaking?? Bruh

Originally ink on paper. Took a pic but it looked like crap. Put aside for awhile and recently thought to fool around with it in gimp. I don't know what I'm doing with gimp but looks a lot better than the photo and is a lot closer to my original. After Gimp it messed up some stuff like putting some black around the red where it shouldn't be but I figure I can figure out how to fix it later. I still need to fill the rest of the figure with red mostly and black if needed to give it form. Think of Aiden Hughes style, wasn't attempting to copy it just use it as a way to practice giving my drawings form with shading. I have no idea what I'm going to do with the background.

Is it worth trying to finish?

Not a digital guy but after playing with inkscape and gimp I gained appreciation that I could actually fix the parts that bug me.

Who else lives at your home? Is this the first time this has happened? Is it possible someone is using your home office PC to fap when you're not around and the "grease stains" are either lotion, lube, spunk, or something else? Mechanic that's fucking your wife likes to go fuck your your things in your office and getting motor oil on it? Is there anything special about YOUR PC that anyone would want to access it over others in the hosue?

Get a cheap 30 dollar hidden camera on amazon. Install a keylogger or something on your pc. Also place a different pad of paper there to make sure it's simply not something that has to do with that specific pad of paper.

Also just remembered, you should also check your browser history and stuff like that. Also what sites your browsers have saved passwords for. Also either remove or put a lock on your porn folders if you have it saved. If only a few know your password then it limits down who it could be unless that password is compromised.

I think what is most likely is someone in the house is jerking off to your porn or using your PC for porn and trying to make everything look untouched but didn't realize they got stuff on your paper. Or just using your PC for other stuff but this is the modern day version of looking at dads playboys in the closet.

Symbol drawn and chicken scratch. I hope you are brand new to drawing. Try reading keys to drawing and then fun with a pencil. Draw with your whole arm and not your wrist. You can still draw anime for fun but don't make it the primary thing you draw.

everyone has that stage, where you mentally over-exaggerate the features that you see. This happens with the curves you are drawing, they are way more curved than the actual picture. Later on, if you ever do colouring you will make the same mistake overexaggerating the values of your painting. I do appreciate that you gave a go at the hands and didn't just skip them. Keep it up :) What you are going through is part of the learning process.

I'm assuming you are baiting but In case you aren't. You haven't actually been "studying" any of these people's books. Read "how to read a book" by Mortimer Adler and Charles doren. The reason why you cannot see it is because you're mentally processing symbols, and since the symbols are the same, then you think they are similar enough.

As an example, the left shoulder in the ref is a corner, but in the drawing it is a curve. But since they both look like a shoulder then you might not pick it up when you are starting out. Apply this issue to every curve and corner and shape and you will be able to see what is wrong with the drawing

coincidentally i did this exact exercise yesterday with these drawings from yesterday and the day before, and they proved to me how overlaying your drawing can really help you understand why it doesn't look so similar to the reference. attempt 2 was done after i realized that my attempt 1 drawing was too small so i couldn't get the face details close enough for my satisfaction), attempt 2.5 was me taking the attempt 2 drawing and directly modifying it after knowing where i was wrong, and attempt 3, which was done fresh after knowing where i went wrong, was done after having spent hours on the one drawing and feeling burned out with that specific image and really not concentrating as well as the previous attempts. i know my attempt 2.5 is technically cheating since i figured out exactly what was wrong with it but it feels good having at least 1 drawing by my hand turn out very good. i also learned that the face in profile is not as easy as it would seem (draw any curve of the nose wrong and it noticeably changes the face). also happy with the non-head aspects of attempt 1 especially the values (except bright spots in the hair due to drawing them in negative with a pencil) so overall it was a 10/10 learning experience

Pick up sharpie or permanent marker and start adding thick outlines to your stuff. It will level up your line skills and if you will apply the outline with consideration to form or lighting (aka only on some lines) you will also level up your form feeling
>>6397659
to me it seems you cannot decide what art style you want to achieve. As first step try to determine if you want outlines to be visible or not. Half assing it like this is weird

yeah, i never end up being precise enough and frankly most of the time it doesnt even matter
>lines
i dont give a shit about line quality at the moment, i think i will end up as painter anyway since its the only medium which doesnt inflict as much pain while i draw

i am using real life references. if the reference is awkward so be it

For some decent studies in muscles and dynamic poses i'd recommend looking at Peter Paul Rubens his paintings and etchings. It'll help you rely less on straight lines in your smaller sketches. Try to emphasize some roundness to the body even when it is not showing enough, it helps to give volume to sketch.

Even when you're going to paint you need to make good groundwork. And that starts with sketching well. Maybe try to lesten on the chicken scratching on the small sketches. Good to see that the larger detailed ones don't suffer from it though.

try using less dense pencils. a 4B will do you good to get an extra darker shade in there. Otherwise nice deconstruction and study. Maybe go for some more characteristic faces next, old people are good example. right now the faces all come from the mathematic study of drawing but the chaotic asymmetry of a weathered face helps with constructing the more human facial inconsistencies that we have.

Someone pointed out that I was fucking up perspective the other day, so I decided to try an exercise in foreshortening, constructed from imagination, no reference.
I had under an hour to draw, and then I had to go back to work, so it's not as good as I would like, the right arm is still off for sure and I had to rush to finish.
I think I might try this again with more time, and maybe use a reference if I can find one. I chose the salute pose because it's specific and figuring it out (at least as well as I did) was a fun challenge.

Draw a box day 2. I think I kinda understand the speed I ought to be going to still be somewhat accurate but still making "confident" lines. Hopefully I will ready to move on to ellipses by the end of the week.

Hmmm, do you really need to go at such a slow pace? Did someone tell you that you need to wait until you're done with lines to do ellipses? Circles? Squares? Why not make 100 shitty lines, 100 shitty circles, and 100 shitty ellipses every day until you can do them all perfectly? I'm sure you'll find that approach about equal to your current one but in less the time. Recall that line and curve confidence are basically the same thing but with slightly different shoulder movements, so there is some overlap in the skills

I could be doing ellipses as well, but it's not the difference between drawing 100 shitty lines vs drawing 100 shitty lines and 100 shitty ellipses, it's the difference between drawing 100 shitty lines vs 50 shitty lines and 50 shitty ellipses. I am only going to spend so much time a day drawing. Yesterday I did 4 pages of lines, 2 pages of 'ghosted' lines, and 4 pages of 'ghosted' planes. I will probably do similar today. Why not through anatomy into my attempts at drawing lines as well?

It kinda seems to me like you decided to draw a boxer and obviously boxers should be menacing, but you didn't go into the piece thinking about all these things. If you want a piece to come out the way it is in your head, you must think about why it looks like that in your head if that makes sense. Not to be an ass and I'm really trying to help you here genuinely, but it also looks as though you need to spend some time doing the basics too if you really, truly wish to achieve what you're probably imagining. One of the advantages of artist compared to camera is that you can paint all objects in the scene with sharp focus. Sure, blurring something can enhance the picture, but IMHO blurring a beautiful flower which takes literally half of whole canvas is grand insult to the flower, to the composition and to the viewer. Objects with no curves don't need contour lines, but if you are to draw them then they should on the same axis as the base and ceiling of the object, and they should go into the horizon.

In layman's terms, see the part of the house that faces you? Those "contour lines" are correct because they run across the house parallel to whatever horizons they are facing to the left and the right. Your ocean actually looks like it's the opposite coast because the horizon is actually about halfway up the lighthouse and the horizon you drew. The diagonal lines on the side of the house that's facing right should all be pointing to the horizon I just tried to describe

3d airbrush pillow shading on top of cardboard cutout. your priority seems to have been creating outlines of a flat shape, then slapping different geometry on top. the faces are also very symbol drawn. (why are their buttcheeks falling out of the panties?)
i'd recommend you to do some figure drawing, with mental emphasis on 3d shapes.
try to actually define a light source, and apply light and shadow accordingly. the contrast between those should be generally higher, value wise. hope that helps on the way forward.

First of all, no you cannot. If you don't understand how these tools work, they are, for lack of a better explanation, just automatic photobashers. Every part of that image is comprised of who knows how many other peoples' work. If you looked hard enough you may very well find that exact same face somewhere, although it would be difficult since they're probably using an enormous dataset of images pulled from who knows where.
Secondly, although the generated image is really pretty and polished looking on the surface, every single bit of style, character, and movement that you put into your piece is gone. What's important in your art is YOU. Your voice, your soul. The AI stripped all of it away and left nothing behind.

It looks nice on the outside, but it's nothing but poison. Don't give in to the temptation or you'll end up being like those soulless automatons tracing and photobashing other people's work just to get little crumbs of recognition and acknowledgement on social media.

in GIMP you can go SELECTION>GROW and then SELECTION>FEATHERED EDGES and that kinda solves your problem. I dont doubt CSP has that as well, probably just under different names

Tried drawing for "fun". Tried starting drawing the borders between light and dark and going from there, but ended up more fucked than even when I try drawing without particular methodology.

besides morpho muscle anatomy for artists, this figure alone helped me a lot

the obliques go in an oblique direction towards the upper back, where they meet the serratus. the serratus go underneath and between each huh, "tube" coming from the obliques

>you needed BEG thread to point out your shitty diet causing you to be malnourished. You are failing at living anon
Ok so why is this forum any less valid than something else? Nobody knows everything, having a hobbyist conversation and mentioning something topical like "I have stability issues and am not sure why," to a group of people doing the same hobby and getting feedback from someone who likely experienced something similar is fine. Why wouldn't it be? That's literally how life works. Like how is it any more valid to idk, visit some nutritionist who is going to throw just as much random shit at the wall? At least talking to people who are likely similar will
likely yield actionable results, which it clearly did. You're retarded and bitter.

First time drawing in Krita with a tablet. Definitely turned out better than expected. Any tips for Krita?
