Should have gone into STEM. Become a coder. Make AI.

Same. I'm incapable of moderation. If I have any vidya installed on my PC all I'm thinking about when I'm studying is when I'll get to play next. I also blocked all boards except /ic/ which I barely even come to anymore because of AI spam. Those were the closest things I had to having some sort of social outlet. My life feels so empty and lonely without them. But at least I'm finally getting good work done.

stop trying to work in the same recreational space. that's the only thing your PC is mentally allocated for.
I implore you to set up a space far from it or find one if you can, if you still live with your family this is can be hard but if you can find a library or something don't think about it, just go there.
conversely /ic/ is a shithole where the quality of the work from the average user has dropped massively compared to what it was even 7 years ago. only use it for pirating books.

Unless you can turn playing vidja into monies you time is better spent focusing on things. Just putt a let play on in the background to enjoy the hobby.

I studied stem and went the project management path. Wouldn't recommend being a coder. It's really sad to see people with way more knowledge than me make less and work insane hours with regular crunch. I'm in just a regular corporation, Fortune 500.
I'd explain why they're treated like grunts and need to be for anything to get done at a scale of 20 + system integrations, but the salty replies from people in the field have gotten tiresome from /biz/ discussions.
I draw for fun, and actually do cheap commissions from time to time because then someone else is relying on me, makes it easier to force myself to keep a schedule after a day of work. I have some aspirations, though. I want to be able to draw a comic one day that's late 90s DC comics tier, and I want to make some Felix the cat style animations that my upcoming kid will appreciate.

thats not how it works. You only have a certain number of "charges" to do anything all day. Some activities take one, others take your remaining charges. Going from one task to another eats up an additional charge, so doing two things for 1 hour each is always more expensive than doing one thing all day. The amount of hours in the day doesn't matter, just doing the laundry wipes me out all day.

24 hours is enough to do what’s needed and much more with time to spare. Doing laundry all day forgets that you have 700,000 hours in the following months.

Yet kids in African cobalt mines can work 12 hours a day. You're literally getting outdone by lil' niggas mate. Screw your spoon theory and get someone to stab your dick with needles if you don't paint for 16 hours each day, that's how you make it. You need to be afraid of failure like death.

OP I tried this and it didn't work, I picked up bonelabs after a few months of no video games and immediately afterward I had a lot more inspiration to draw.
If you don't want to spend your time on video games, at least pick up another hobby, try hiking or trainspotting or some gay shit, idk. Just do something to give your brain input to create art from.
>>6388993
This too desu. Spend less time on 4chan senpai.

If that's your takeaway then you're certainly NGMI
The correct takeaway is that the alternative to not working must suck more than working, so you'll have no choice but to put in the hours to get good at art.
Quit your job, tell all of your friends to fuck off, buy art supplies with all of your money so you can't buy weed/drugs/alcohol or go to parties or movies, and stop paying your internet bill. Trash your car if you have one. When you have nothing else left in your life but art, you're going to be motivated to do it 18 hours a day.
