Never was into it but i still watch a lot of manga and anime because sometimes they tend to have supreme creative solutions. Or a very effective style of story telling. Vagabond is great, the works of Taiyo Matsumoto and that movie Mind Game is just love. (Let's put Junji Ito in here as well)

Im mocking you because youre calling lame shit that appeals to the most common denominator like Vagabond and Junji Ito as creative, when they are as basic as you can get. You probably think Cowboy Bebop is the greatest anime of all time as well.

You just sound like the typical normie whose afraid of admitting he watches/reads anything anime related to avoid being associated with any negative stereotypes because he cares too much what people think.

Unironically I used to think "Just draw stylized if you aren't aiming for a realistic style in the end" but now I am seriously questioning my choices thus far.

I want to learn fundies traditionally but I don't know how to start since all I did was a little bit of DAB and the beginning of Hogarths book. I am not "fully" into art since I am too lazy to force 6 hours everyday but I want to study fundies seriously to make my art look more professional and gain following on the internet. My perspective and compositions skills are still pretty fucking bad, I can't properly color and my art still boring as hell even if I want to go for a stylized look. I don't even know if this is the right thread to ask this, but should I start drawing realistically unironically for a while if I want to move out of this NGMI looking art quickly?

Fundies vs stylized is a false dichotomy. If you just mindlessly grind still lifes or perspective exercises or whatever, then they’ll just be as bad and have the same sorts of mistakes are your stylized illustrations.
The important thing is that you’re consciously analyzing your mistakes and using fundies knowledge to correct them. But you can do that whether the subject matter is a stylized illustration or something more realistic. The important thing is the approach and the method, not the subject.

Anime was very specifically developed to be extremely cheap to produce, using tricks like camera pans to convey movement and separating the facial features from the head to make them easier to animate for example.
Most japs are really, really bad at perspective and fundamentals in general since so many of them entirely base their studies on cheap cartoons that forgo quality for the sake of budget.
Never "learn" anime without first being very comfortable with the fundamentals, it'll only teach you bad practices that were never developed with sound drawing practices in mind, it's like trying to learn to draw by copying toonboom garbage.

Hahahahahahahahahaha I can't help but laugh everytime I found fags like this. They literally seethe if someone likes art, comics, mangas, movies etc. that other people also like. Of course there's a bunch of bullcrap I don't in any way enjoy that greatly appeal to s-0-y fags redditors. And maybe I could like the some things they also do for very different reasons. He cited good mangas, and taiyo who seems to be a very good author, tho I only watched ping-pong, I quickly googled him and he seems very fine. Vagabond art is indisputably fantastic, then so what a lot of people like it as well. Why would they not like it? There also a great number of very unknown works that are absolute gem, which, should they get any more spotlight, they'd rise to the same level of popularity of these so-called "basic" works. In other words, you're saying you can only like unpopular, be it for whatever reason, and underappreciated works? And insofar as they don't grow in popularity? Nigga, that's so fucked up.

You mentioned cowboy bebop, now I don't if the guy your replying to really loves it to death, but what if he doesn't. You ever thought about that, huh? I enjoy some things that you call basic, but bepop ain't anywhere near my favorite. My favorite is berserk, because I love the writing, I love the art, I love Guts and I enjoy a "fit" lifestyle.

I think that the problem with people like you is creating these false generalisations that 99% of the fails to accurately describe a person's taste. These only work with braindead leftists, anything with feminism and diversity in it, but even then, you can found them on leddit discussing things we also do here. Should we stop just because of that? Lol no.

Can't agree more
>USA hasn't had any great artist since the 60s
Can't disagree more
There were and there some many talented artists after the 60's, so many showing the brilliance in comic art, in numerous forms of illustrations, in animation, in some form of contemporary art. Now I absolutely hate modern art as much as the guy, but to say that good artists don't exist just because our current culture is trash is ridiculous. There a lot great unknown artists that, thanks to the internet, they can show it to the whole world. The best of them are the ones who have distanced themselves from this current shit type of art. You know that very well since you even mentioned Dave Rapoza.

but there are many many anime background artists that paint just as good if not better than your example on the right.
Not saying the painting looks terrible, just seems like like you're unironically confused about what anime is desu.

>Thinking USA isn't trying to normalize pedophilia
Hate Japan and anime all you want. They are still better than USA when it comes to art and beauty. Likewise the Ottoman Empire became the sick man of Europe, USA is becoming the sick man of the western world.
