You just need to learn to stop symbol drawing, do a little study on face muscles and skulls for your portraits, and actually learn how to use values. >How to stop symbol drawing
Draw what you see in front of you. Try starting with something simple, a black and white photo of some fruit on a table or something. This was the first project I did in school, solely with pencil and an eraser and I worked on mine for about 8 months in my time between classes before my instructor would let me move on from it. You don't have to spend that long on it, I'm just giving you a frame of reference for how long it took me. If you have too much trouble with accuracy or proportions you can use a 1"x1" grid on your paper along with the proportional equivalent on your reference (have a second version without the grid available for later) to help you set your angles down and then erase the grid when you're ready to lay in tones.

Take your time, go slowly, and just worry about getting accurate lines laid in, and putting down lines where you know for sure you will be putting shadows. For pencil tones and rendering technique, JD Hillberry (?) is a good resource.

Make sure to use a decent art pencil (or a set if possible) and paper with enough grain to hold graphite in it well. Ask for help if you run into any problems.

Calm down and take it one day at a time, one fundamental skill at a time. I might as well share a resource that helped me a lot, and breaks things down into manageable categories, Famous Artists Course The 3D thing isn’t impossible, you’re just jumping into very complex shapes, which is a mistake. Start with the simple geometric solids (cube, cylinder, cone, sphere); then you can think of more complex objects as being made up of these.

I was okay for the first ten years or so, but it wasn't until I was about 28 that I really came into my own and my work started getting published. Now, I didn't have the internet and the same resources people have now. The industry had yet to be transformed by social media.

The reasons to be an artist are few. If you simply cannot live without creating art, then you need to do it, you want to do it, and you will do it. Any reason short of "you can't live without it", meaning you truly cannot function and you start to go nuts (yes, I mean mental, neurotic, or worse) unless you are creating fairly regularly, is not really enough of a reason.

Because it's hard. It takes time. Blood, sweat, tears, exhaustion, starving, struggling, making bad decisions in the name of art, etc, etc, etc.

If I could come close to telling you the amount of blind sacrifices I made to build my website (meaning my portfolio) your head would spin.

It's not just drawing.
