How do you draw something scary, creepy, or unnerving? I can't recall any moments where I was legitimately disturbed looking at a piece of art like I have been looking at just an actual picture with maybe some photo editing. Is it even possible? Do I have to draw realistically?

a lot of comic artists build suspense in a way that makes it clear to the reader you'll be scared as soon as you turn the page which makes the reader an active participant. I know there's already a bunch of junji ito art but in this page the characters have seen something you haven't

I feel that there's an art to conveying true horror. Requires finesse and leaving details to the imagination.

It's better to understate something than make it overtly "scary". eg; there's a reason why creature designs that have human characteristics are more unnerving than some big-toothed monster. There's a familiarity there that's betrayed, hence why it disturbs us.
