IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the Drawthread with fundamental exercises.

POST DRAWINGS YOU NEED HELP WITH!

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in picresize.com

Some other issues;
-Fringe is merged with hair on the rest of her head creating a flat impression.
-Mouth looks fucky, look at more references even if it has a "middling" effect on your style (better to be like everyone else and good than unique but subpar)
-Bad line work in general (chin too pointy, neck and shoulders look western cartoon not anime).

aside from actually learning how to draw the fabric itself, it forces you think about the shapes in 3D space and how they interact with each other. You've simplified waay too much. Don't draw stick figures like that, and keep the proportions of the individual limbs in mind. The groin marks the halfway point in height for a human.

Here's an example of how Hampton does his gestures. It probably isn't the gold standard, but it's a good thing to shoot for as a beginner.

And actually I'll take a sec to explain it to you.

What you're doing in the drawing is just drawing without thinking of what it's your main goal at the moment, and it shows up.

It seems like you're trying gesture but at the same time anatomy, and proportions, and you're failing in everything, aim for only one and focus, in my opinion you should start with proportions and avoid the other ones because it's going to be overwhelming for you.

Also yes, use a fucking pencil, erase your mistakes and think what to do to fix them.

How the sausagy surprise sweeps the chimney of... whom?
Of course a cuck would apply,
And even cease without fight, just to pass by!
But he would only pretend,
Because a wigor is not something he could comprehend,
And thus his chimney would be swept to the bitter end,
As no one can withstand a mighty lance, rammed through the browny palace.

He screams, he shouts, he makes a fuss,
He brags, he cries, he even squeals!

But most thro' midnight streets I hear
How the youthful nigger
Blasts the fresh-new semen from his Infant rear,
And blights with plagues of cuckold's arse.

Once there was a tranny, beloved by CNBC.
In it's eternal wisdom the tranny cut off her crusty girl micropenis,
Sewing the head back to the dirty unwashed crotch, thus making itself a clit.
Making use of plastic pizza knife tranny split the flesh open,
Soon after stuffing there mummified hotdog from the crusty stained mountains of trash.
The vagoo dripped with goo,
And thus tranny defied god and created an abomination in the face of itself to the earth and all the people.

I personally hate spikes of hair drawn like that. Not saying it’s wrong but I think hair looks better drawn as an actual form. Hair doesn’t look, feel or work like banana peels. I’d skip doing spikes altogether and learn to draw hair as a form rather than spiky style. I think it makes it look amateurish because so many Uberbegs draw hair that way. Not just dissing you personally. The face looks cool.

Think about it more like sculpting than drawing, draw a block the shape of the hair and carve it out

I don't actually draw spikes, this was just a last ditch desperation effort of getting anything resembling hair on that head.
I usually put in the base shapes as guides and then draw the hair like pic related.
Is that wrong?
How do I think about it as sculpting?
I feel like the actual shape of hair will most of the time, have a round/droplet form, at least for short styles and the difference would lie in how the strands of hair overlap.

That's all you need to fix.Draw a lot of bodies from imagination and from reference, learn how they work and think of it a lot, compare your work to work that you like.It may take a month or a year, but its the only surefire way to improve. You'll do well. Also remember not to get stressed and take breaks if you feel like you're burning out.Quality of output goes downhill when one is not at one's best shape, take care of yourself, sleep well and dont push yourself too hard.Good luck.

Plus 5 months isn't as much as you think. You're too used to people that get good in no time,or that lie about how long it took them to get good. And if you're slower than the rest, that doesn't matter, what matters is that you get where you want to get, even if it takes you longer than it'd take others.

You're not "trying" these resources you fucking imbecile, you're taking one look at them and saying "it's too haaard" and trying to find someone with a magic spell that will make you instantly improve with zero effort. 95% of art is work, so if you can't stomach that just give up

FUNDIES AND MORE FUNDIES YET PROGRESS NEVER SHOWED UP
FOUR MONTHS ENTIRELY WASTED, MAKE BELIEF SKILL
TO WASTE ANOTHER HAS BEEN
DEVASTATING
RESOURCES HAVE BEEN TRIED AND WE CAN'T IMPROVE OR AM I JUST NOT SEEING IT?

call them GMI? tHEY only called me GMI once ONCE
isnt that telling you something?

A time limit? Depends on how much experience you have with the exercise. If you have no experience then do it without worrying about a time limit, if you feel somewhat experienced try it in 30 minutes, and if you feel cocky do it in 5 minutes. If you've only been drawing for 5 months I'd say you should try it without a time limit.

Also stop with this GMI bullshit. It's a meme. Don't take it seriously. Everyone can make it, talent is a fucking myth. You need effort, consistency and time. Lots of all of those. Think a lot of all of those three, then think more than that, and you're gonna need even MORE to become a master. But most of all you need to enjoy yourself. If you don't have fun while drawing you're wasting your time, and I'm not saying this as some sort of reverse psychology bullshit, I really mean it, if you don't enjoy drawing then you shouldn't do it.

You know those freaky fetish images where Asuka transforms into a horse while Rei becomes her saddle? I had a nightmare about this, except instead of Reimu becoming a training bra or something, it was some poor man being foreverially Loomisized by Andrew Loomis.

the engines i suppose, i imagine there wouldn't be much light in space

>> No.5145852

Well if it's not close to a star then it should basically be a pitch-black silhouette, except for the engines, which would illuminate the plane theyre sitting on quite a bit, as well as the tips of the wings, where that light would reach as well. Also what's the blurry haze in the middle of the background? Does it need to exist? Does it add anything to your drawing? Should we even be able to see the cockpit and top of the ship from this angle since the back of the ship seems to be facing us at 90 degrees?

>> No.5145877

>>5145852
out of all the things I didn't think of the silhouette option
>blurry haze in the middle of the background
distant galaxy, space itself has a glow to it, though not as pronounced as long exposure cameras
>90 degrees
does it look that way? I was going more for 70-80 ish, but I see the issue

thanks
i would try this and post but its really late here

Personally I would redo that white spot in the background and make it more closely resemble something more recognizable, whether you settle on a star or nebula or actual galactic formation, if not cut it altogether. And yes, the perfect circles on the back of the ship make it look like we're facing it dead-on, so if you were to lessen their degree a bit it would make more sense to be able to see the top of the ship

>> No.5145920

It's worth considering that space is the blackest black you could ever see if you were out there in the middle of it and not on a planet that is constantly lit by at least one nearby body at any given moment. You know how black it is outside when it's nighttime and the sky is completely covered by thick clouds? That's still relatively bright compared to being in the middle of space with no nearby light source at all

Hi guys. I have got an old Huion 610PRO. I've always drawn for leisure. Now, I want to draw in a more formal way, so I'm going to read and practice some books/guides. My question:

Should I use the tablet from beginning? Or should I first do that exercises with paper and pencil and after use the tablet?
