If I was in a gallery I'd be paying about 50% of my sales + paying for my supplies, and probably selling way fewer pieces (wouldn't be getting as many works in as many homes) so selling online is probably better in terms of sales and publicity, even if it's a shit ton more work.

Also the people that buy my work tend to be upper middle to upper class people, historians/doctors/professors/CEOs so hopefully when the pandemic is over and they all hold their fancy parties there will be more publicity for me.

no I just try to do good paintings, if you do a really good painting it sells almost immediately. There's some science behind picking the title of the post I'm sure but a lot of it is just about how appealing the thumbnails are

Feels like the placement of the tail and body in general could use more depth - as it is right now, they're kind of side by side. Makes it look kind of flat.
Maybe you could push the tail into the foreground more? It'd contribute to the compo a bit more noticeably and give it more depth.
Also feels like you could have more design in the background as well - right now it's mostly just trees. Give it some reeds or animal carcasses or something to break it up and give it some secondary details.

I have a lot of disposable income from my job (not art and I have no advice other than go to school and get a high demand degree sorry) and was considering opening an online art shop with merchandise. Does anyone sell prints, totes, stuff like that? How’s that go? I was thinking babysitting an Etsy shop might be fun. Or an eBay store, apparently. Goddamn, Brian. Is it fun? I hated doing commissions but maybe selling what I’ve already made might be nice. I have friends who are really successful moneywise selling fanart merch but I’m 1) interested in only my original stuff and 2) more looking for personal fulfillment.
