I don't know who you're talking about, but it could be a problem of not pushing themselves enough. The way to make anything other than incremental gains is to push yourself, to leave your comfort zone and draw difficult things until those difficult things become easy. If you stick to your comfort zone then you're merely polishing the skills you already have.

I doubt your effort is pointless if you are focussing on several essential attributes like copying from photos and copying from other artist's works.

Once you become a human photocopier (there are multiple techniques you need for this like mirroring, flipping, rotating the canvas), all you need to churn out high quality works is to take several works and combine them in your head (for example, lighting reference, style reference with some good composition) and then draw the result you feel is the most satisfying result and fix issues you notice in the result (honed from being a human photocopier).

Pretty sure the only thing that is locked behind talent is imagination (and photocopying more will help you memorise aspects that help you more when working from imagination, because imagination requires even more look, cover, write and check and ain't no one got the mileage for perfect 100% imagination unless you're a pro).

But I’m here for a different purpose. I think I have a serious problem. Though I’d successfully conquered drugs in the past, I fear I have a different addiction now. That’s right, I may be what you refer to as a “coomer”. Just 5 minutes ago I saved three more videos from a dedicated coom discord server. Prior to that, I’d used a screen recording app to download and save a rare premium video I’d not been able to find for quite some time. I think it would be useful for you if you broke your construction down to really basic, easily understandable shapes, and practiced those via drawing figures with references, and then went from there. Attached a pic of krenz's stuff for an example (specifically the most basic ones he's done), but if those don't make sense to you, then I'd suggest looking around/reading up on books until they do make sense.

I go to art school lad and limited palette is usually self expanditory. Painting with limited palette is different from using it wirhin digital art as its harder to keep it limited to 4 colours but you can do it. Although even with gouache and water colour you can still keep a limited palette without blending them. You can do what you want if you care so much about it, I made it to just be a fun challenge to see how you work within limitations.
