Continuing my face studies, this time using anthro character. After the inked one I've decided to use a more simple but effective method for expressions and I was more comfortable until the last one. I can't draw canine snouts and I was not secure of myself while I was drawing it, and it shows. Any tips or critique?

I don't think the drawing is bad, in fact I will admit that we are not too far off in terms of skill ourselves. It's just that the biggest issue was the odd shaped breast and raised leg near the knee, and the foreshorten arm which elbow was alittle too long, which are all easy fixes with a quick refresher. Even as casual artist it never hurts to pick up a book every now and again rather than relying on old memories of what the figure should look like an forget some thing along the way. copy the figures inside, also there alot of visual queues that shows you the right and wrong way to draw thing that doesn't require reading the book. I personally pair this with Hampton figure drawing and FORCED anatomy (2 books that are actually in english) before hand then study Rockhe once I have working knowledge how the bodypart I'm studying at the time works. Again Rockhe is an excellent resource should you give it a chance.

The face and eyes look really appealing, but I'm afraid that's about all of the nice things I can say about this. It all looks floaty and undefined, and the only "hard" part (her headdress thing) looks twisted and miss-shapen. And there's not much else to look at really

I did a study of one of Lofi's paintings. I did some small studies of Iben Krutt's work earlier in the week which were fun, but I think I prefer the rougher and livelier brushwork in Lofi's work. I want my work to be much looser than how I painted the raccoon one above

I think the brushes are definitely "carrying" me a lot, the texture and the roughness of the brushwork covers up a lack of painting skill. I don't think what I'm making would look very good at all with just a hard round brush, so in that way they are helping out a lot!

Really struggling with head shape design, I have the least problem with wolf characters b/c you can make the angles really obvious and can hide a lot under neck fur and fur on the back of the head, but actually constructing the muzzle and rest of the cranium is really hard for me. I know the lighting and color is not good but thats something i need to focus on separately

I tried doing a small redline. I think what you have right now is working really well, so feel free to disregard this if it's not really what you're going for. what might help with building the cranium is if you added a little bit more volume to the back of the head. right now your head is very human and circular, which makes sense given the character, but dog heads do tend to have a flatter, ovular cranium mass. having some volume at the back might also make it easier to build out the neck, since it'd have more room and be easier to separate from the jaw and muzzle.
I think I lost the character-likeness in my drawing, but I hope you can still get something out of it. your style here reminds me a lot of that web cartoon 'A Fox in Space,' which also has very round, humanish heads, so what you have now is working if that was you intention!
two small things also: maybe you flipped the canvas, but I think the character has the eyepatch on the other eye. having the further eye obscured by the eyepatch might be a little easier for clarity too. in my redline, I thought one of his nipples was escaping up his chest, but looking at it now I think it's a scar lol

If you're doing a copy I would recommend trying to find a picture in the style you want to achieve, since experimentally figuring out the techniques of the artist is the best application of that form of study.
Secondly I'm not very talented in coloring but the shadow colors you chose seem a bit too boring to me. Try varying the hue and saturation and maybe sample Kunaru's colors to see how he picks his colors.

looks neat, I would try doing it without adhering so firmly to your linework. I usually do a rough sketch and the keep it at low opacity over top of what I'm painting as a guide. after doing some studies of other people's work, it seems like most of the time the lines you see on paintings like that are done in the final stages of the illustration.

Newfag to this board here. I don't really consider my art or characters "furry", but I know some people do, so maybe you /fag/s might be interested. About a month ago, I picked up digital for the sake of coloring my traditional work, but given that I've done only traditional grayscale art for the past ~10 years or so, it's been a bit of a learning curve.

This is my most recent picture: anything I could improve on when it comes to digitally coloring? I'm currently using clip studio, mostly using the colored pencil tool as it's the closest to using a real pencil, making it easier to get into. The planet at the bottom left looks a bit too amateur, imo, and I'm not quite sure how to improve it while keeping it consistent with the overall style. Thanks furfags.

the colours do look nice I think, they're very striking and fairly cohesive. it reminds me of that sort of vaporwave-aesthetic with all the pinks and purples and stuff. the characters do look like they're standing, not walking. having a stronger ground plane and sense of perspective might help with posing the characters more convincingly. It looks a little bit like you drew the characters first and then added in the background at the end, when they should be done in tandem so that they don't clash.

These look quite good! Lions honestly have some goofy anatomy, so even if you stay true to the forms you can get some off-putting results. They go against many conventions of what we think of when we think of "this is a cat face". They're very square and have big dopey muzzles.

The two on the right in particular have some great lion essence. I in particular love how squared out the ears are on the lower right head. A lot of people miss that about lion ears.

I've done a bit of the line-over on the head on the left since I think that's the one you struggled the most with. I've included the reference I used and some indication of the shape breakdown that I look for when drawing them.

I also did some slight manipulation to the face on the lower right to show you how exaggerated you can get with muzzle proportions and still have it read as "lion".
