I done this whole page of lines
For 3 days I do a similar one in my pause time to defeat my chicken scratching
Is my line accurate, smooth and continuous enough??

>> No.4896909 [DELETED]

no you have to have complete control over the smallest movements you wont figure it out in 3 days try to

>> No.4896918

if you were born in a test rich womb you can easily figure that out in a month, else maybe in 7 years and I'm being generous

Does training on your lines is a meme?
>>4896932
How long do you want the lines anon ?

>> No.4896998

Good work anon. No they aren't straight enough yet, so do some more tomorrow and the day after, and so on.

Also, don't just do this one exercise repeatedly, switch it up. Look at the draw a box / dynamic sketching excercises for linework and do some of them as a warm-up everyday. I found the overlayed lines excercise surprisingly effective for learning straight lines.

put a ruler next to the line
are they parallel?
no? then they're not straight
yes? then they are

first of all OP, stop drawing arrows and draw lines, you are wasting your time and the whole point of such an exercise with those retarded tips
second you are wasting a shit ton of paper gj, try doing a hatch from straight lines, you will save a lot of paper and learn a proper way to draw shadows
also do long lines, drawing something so short wont improve your skill and i assume that you draw on something around A3 so thats nothing
if you want to get gud at drawing long straight lines you should train lines that span across the whole A3 page at minimum, ofc horizontal (the longer side)

also learning to draw straight lines wont make you abandon chicken scratching, chicken scratching comes from not enough experience in drawing whatever you plan on drawing and low confidence in your strokes
drawing straight long lines will only teach you how to draw straight long lines which is good for architecture/perspective heavy drawing and as i mentioned hatching good looking shadows

You need to practice drawing perfect straight lines up and down the longest points of your paper. Use your elbow and draw the lines close together so you can see if your line leans too much or skewed off. Defeating chicken scratching requires commitment to a line though. Practice drawing.a perfect figure 8 over and over on top of each other. Keep doing this until your lines stop skewing out. However remember your not a robot this is near possible to do perfect perfect. And even if it was perfect it'd lose some charm.

Draw bicycles. Huge precise ellipses and straight lines, with a small dose of perspective practice.

No your lines are not perfectly straight. At the moment I can buy a cheap piece of plastic that helps me draw much straighter and more consistent lines than you are showing here so what good are you? You need to be BETTER than the alternative otherwise I'm just going to buy a ruler instead of commissioning you to draw straight lines for me.

good for you OP. Don't forget that with these linework excercises most 'learning' happens in the break between the excercises. Doing a small amount everyday (one or two A4 pages) is better than grinding through excercises for hours once a week and getting burnt out. As soon as it gets tedious push for a just little more and then leave it at that for the day.
