What? I’m giving you resources to actually study the anatomy you need help with. The girl can have a short torso and long legs or she can have more proportional features (proportions obviously vary). But you very obviously lack knowledge of anatomy.
Quickposes.com will give you references. Try to draw a woman there. Then draw the shapes over the body to get an idea about the anatomy. Then trace over the body to get an idea of the line work. Line it up over your drawing of the woman to see your errors. Then try to redraw the image. You’ll see some improvement. Pic related was a body study I did.

Can any anons comment on the extent to which the right two heads have perspective or "three dimensionality"? The leftmost head is one I posted last week for reference, and at that time anons told me that the drawing wasn't convincing as a 3D form, and I've received that feedback on some of my other posts too.

Since then I've been trying to convey more realistic forms by paying closer attention to the placement of features, as well as by applying some basic shading to try and show depth. However, I think part of my problem is that I struggle to identify what exactly it is about a drawing that makes it look 3D, so I haven't been able to self-critique as well as I would like.

Am I on the right track with the progression of heads here? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've been improving at a decent rate sketching stuff and just learning a few things per sketch.
Getting a feel for form and light, etc. Studies of paintings and photography.

I see so many people obsessed with books and tutorials and exercises like drawing boxes and form-figurines.
Its like they're retaking college art 101 over and over instead of getting a C in 101 and learning more in 102 and in your own time.
Started to clock these people in most learning threads. I'm gonna steer clear of those people's advice lol.

Don't worry about it m9. You can't tell if someone's gonna make it just by looking at one drawing. Besides, this thread is about posting your work and trying to improve yourself, not judging whether someone is going to be a successful artist or not. The fact that you're in this thread trying to improve means that you're already on your way. Don't get bogged down by nameless dudes in threads telling you that you're not able to make it who don't know anything about you at all. Keep up the effort, never give up, hold onto the enjoyable aspects of art, and always keep in mind the reason you're doing this. Good luck.

You can't rely on motivation if you want to get really good at art anyway. if its just a hobby though, that's fine. Just don't be disappointed when you can't draw crazy good.

It can be fun learning about anatomy and drawing realistically and then applying it to anime. I love finding the relations between the two, and how both real life and cartoons have fluidity and important connections. Anime in particular exaggerates these real life fluid lines and concepts, that's what makes it so fun to look at and draw. Keep learning!

Yeah, the problem is that I'm still a newbie in digital art, I really don't know much about brushes, tools and layer management, prior to this I've started coloring really recently, while usually I would just do the lineart. For my lines I think it's a pen pressure thing, where sometimes they are less "black", and are shaky in general. Maybe I'm shit with resolution of the canvas too, cause sometimes the lines appear too pixelated. Btw I draw with a Surface Pro with the Microsoft pen, I know it's not the best, but I have these.

I could actually see that too! I used to have that exact same problem, I learned to work with it but I wish that I had just gotten a better drawing program/fixed the settings. it's funny how much this reminded me of my own art lol

Maybe try messing around with the settings on your pen? Or making thinner lines that you can double over without those awkward spikes poking out.

Doing 2-point perspective. I noticed that there is a lot of distortion so that the right wing looks huge compared to the rest of the plane, and the elevators are going to look huge, too, as if I’m very close to the plane with a wide lens. The way you are tracing over images suck. At least Greg Land has transformed the images he stole in an interesting way.

You are just pasting glossy eyes onto realistic faces. It looks really strange, especially when the eyes are not fitting on the planes of the face.

>How can you tell?
The poses and expressions are really stiff. You drew lines in places that weren't necessary. The way the head and shoulders are drawn and the way things are rendered are on two completely different levels.

If you want to trace, UNDERSTAND what you are tracing. LEARN what you are copying. And look for interesting ways to transform what you're taking.

its worse than just the legs, i was all over the place with proportions.

i could measure before i start going in with the shading to make it perfect but i dont see the point in being a copy machine. we have cameras. just want to do the best i can eyeballing it and if im a little off its fine. hopefully over time i just get better at winging proportions. i dont care as much about accuracy as i do, appeal.

Think it’s because this one actually looks like some intentional perspective distortion and the scratchy marker shit kinda ties in with the feel of the drawing but I’m not sure how intentional that was. The other one is just crappy. But also I genuinely envy the careless childishness of it. Not to backhand you but I wish I could just draw something so shitty and be like cool. Soul as they say. Paired with some well designed text could easily make some kinda intentional amateur band poster or something, but don’t kid yourself into thinking this is you actually learning drawing or applying any actual understanding of the subject.
