Have in mind that not all acrylics will always be very intense. As far as I've seen, there isn't that much color difference between acrylics and oils. Though I'd say the main thing that often can make oils look duller is that lean dilution makes them dry like that. But it's not really a problem as your painting should be finished with the fat layer.
In contrast, a lot of people use varnish for acrylic dilution. Using medium gel is a good option too, but I think generally it's a bit nicer to use varnish. And then, you've got mate, semi mate and shiny. In this case, these don't really make the painting more dull even if you use mate (I prefer that one).

And don't be afraid of safety issues with oils. Safety hazards are a meme by people who are not intelligent enough to not stick a fork in the outlet. The only tangible hazard I'd say is air quality, only in the instance of you using a solvent that's both toxic and highly volatile. In which case, having a window open for air flow solves the problem. You also have a lot of contemporary solvents that are not volatile/completely non toxic.
And in the case of the paint, the ones you can buy these days would never poison you unless you ingest a certain amount of them.
So I'd say, nah, don't fear oils. I'd encourage you to try them just to explore a medium, The one asterisk I'd include on the side is that oils have a slightly more complex setup due to requiring two types of solvents (unless you paint alla prima) and that the support should ideally be a canvas.

Do not worry as much for drawing, painting is somewhat of a different skill set. Though if you want to approach it via drawing, value drawing could prime you for it. Although you'd have to adhere to doing only values without any lines. So no shaded line art.
I mean, yeah, you can put down some lines, but the idea is for the drawing to be constructed entirely by values. Still, if you want to paint you shouldn't wait so much. I spent like 2 years at the atelier drawing before painting, and safe for value drawing, the rest didn't necessarily prepared me for painting. Though that doesn't mean there's no skills you could learn which would help. I mean, how to proportion things, how to represent space and so and such will of course help. Though you could still learn them with painting. So I'd advice you don't hold yourself back too much.

How did it work out? Was it nice to work with? Would it change the texture too much? The medium gel I'm accustomed to (ALBA brand, in case you're curious) make the paint a lil bit softer and less dense. Same thing for the varnishes, though they wouldn't alter it as much.
Medium would slow drying by a bit, say, they'd last twice. But with the varnish it wasn't as pronounced. Of course, the drying time of the paint on palette depends on the quantity and its surface area. But given I often don't put much down (primarily because of the drying) they could last about 20 mins until it started to be not so good to work with. And that's considering this place often has humidity in the 80% margin.

Never really tried this slow drying medium before though (they call it "retardant" here, kek). It'd be interesting to see how it alters the experience. Generally I don't mess with many add on products as I've got little money for materials. Was the one you used expensive? Would it last long?

The kind I used had a creamy texture so it was hard to notice any difference in the color or the texture apart from it feeling slightly thinner. I never really payed attention to exactly how long the paint would stay wet but it did make it take longer to dry for sure.

This is a very important point. I think some dads are delighted by comments but don't reply, so a like function would take some of the pressure off. But of course, likes are controversial, because then it could become a popularity contest as people farm to get likes. There's a stigma as well towards turning off comments. You don't want to be that singular dad that turns off the comments, even if it's well meaning such as being discouraged or distracted by lack of comments or their own inability to reply. Some might interpret it as hostility towards constructive criticism and improvement or anti social behavior that can harm their reputation and perception/reception of their art. Then there might be some dads that only leave comments knowing the viewer won't reply, but the wrong reply turns off the commenter from ever returning. This comment thing is a cultural perspective that we can only see how banana will spearhead, whether by implementing "criticism desired" tags or otherwise.

Too complicated. Just make a tag for critique wanted. Anonymous crit is not good. Being able to tell what kind of experience it's coming from is important. For example, as an intermediate, a beginner can still teach me things or have accurate observations when giving me critique, but I am much more likely to know what sort of things I need to study or what direction I'm taking. If say, Inno is giving me feedback on this, it has different weight than someone just starting out. Nonetheless I feel like beginners should be giving critiques shamelessly. Even non-artists can at times make good observations.
