Some exercises you can do are just repeating straight lines, cross-hatching squares (from light to dark), and by drawing from your elbow instead of your wrist.

For technique, you can try having thicker lines at points where the lines come together, objects closer to the camera view, or to just add variety.
You can add thinner lines (or line variation), to the middle of long, uninterrupted lines, objects further from the camera view, to lead into implied lines, or to add variety.

Honestly, just try lining something with the same pressure all the way through, then going back and thinning/thickening out your linework. It's a good exercise if you don't know where to start.

Pic related is a decent example of these line work techniques.
