Did you think you did well, taking into consideration the format of (PROMPT REDACTED) and a time limit? How about your idea-thinking-of, and aspects not entirely revolving around the drawing/painting?
I am personally not too happy with my score, and my attempts. Admittedly, when I look at who I am around, score-wise, and who is above my rank, it makes a lot of sense - but it still sucks. I also think my pieces got better as I went, despite losing energy and hype as it continued, lol.
On the topic of ranks, as well, how do you feel about yours? & how are you going to take it onboard for future gains?
Oh and a final question, will you do the inevitable next one that comes around & what kinda changes to the format would you like?

I felt like the time limit was the main struggle, not sure how I feel about it, that and the fact that this took up three weekends in a row. Not sure I'd do another unless it's like 6 months from now or so. It could have been made a bit better by making it biweekly, or just do two out of three, or something instead.

I’m pretty satisfied with how I did.
I’m not used to doing finished environmental pieces at all so I’m glad I got an excuse to try to do them in a short amount of time, it gave me confidence to try bigger pieces in the future.

I personally lost steam while the challenge was on. I spent less and less time on my pieces as time went on. My first entry was the most polished, but my statue one was the most fun, I think. My dadzone one had potential but since I only spent the last three hours of the challenge on it it's simply unfinished.
I'm glad I did the challenge. I've been doing stuff consistently out of my comfort zone so going back and doing some painting and big illustrative pieces felt good. I felt the judges were fair when it came to my work, though I might have gotten too high a mark-up on creativity the first round. I disagreed with Chooby giving me a 1 on medium usage though, lol.

I don't care much about the ranking, it's arbitrary and irrelevant to what I'm doing in the end career wise, and different artists have different strengths anyway. This challenge favoured those of us with painting and illustration experience. I place high on rankings on dad in general but it won't really affect how and what I study. At this point I feel like I know what I need to do to get to the level I need to be at to work in the fields I'm interested in. Ranking placement doesn't affect my issues with my art, or how I see my own work anyway. Seeing everyone in the community so involved was awesome though. Would love to see something like this happen again.

I'll def be participating again if there's another one. Hm, I don't know what I'd change. I thought the third prompt was a bit bad for never members on dad, so I'd avoid stuff like that personally. The first and second one worked really well imo.

I think I produced some of my best work, at least in terms of planning, effort, research and study. The tourney hype + deadline was exactly what I needed to quit being lazy and I did things I didn't even know I was capable of.
My rank is pretty much where I'd expected (I think my round 2 score from auto was way too high but w/e). The crits really helped.

One thing I might recommend that is fairly common, that is the practice of discarding the highest and the lowest scores given by the judges. For instance if you have 5 judges, you discard the highest and lowest scores and add up only the middle 3. It keeps things more consistent.

i think i did enough to make my submissions look somewhat finished and polished, but not too good. i used the lasso tool a lot to speed up my process and i got to practice using the pen tool. i get to experiment with different lighting scenarios, practice facial expressions, rendering walls with texture aaand i get to have critiques,so i think that's a good thing.
With the ranks, i will not lie. i'm very flattered and surprised to get very very high scores. but i think its only because i have a lot of time to finish my stuff since my area is on lockdown and i got laid off a few weeks ago (HAH. bros kill me).

the first 2 prompts i really liked but the last prompt really stumped me because i've only been on dad for almost 2 months and idk anything about the lore of dad so i just went with a meme that's recognizable in 4chan.

I'm still butthurt about Choob giving the same originality score to creativilet Kazoo as to creativechad jozu. That could be be avoided if the way judges give scores was clearer from the start.
I'm not sure about the score system in general: it would make more sense to divide "fundamentals" score into several: anatomy, perspective, colour theory etc.
Finally this site by nicnac... it's great. It looks awesome. But it's just so impractical! It would be so much better to just have a google spreadshit and have judges put scores in there in real time instead of waiting for nicnac to upload them to his site.

It was a physical con and I went in with having >100 followers on insta (still do because I suck at/hate doing social media).
The only thing to do with social media that seemed to help was posting during the con and tagging the convention... a lot of people saw that and came to my booth because of that.
I also really tried to make my booth as pleasant as possible... I think it was a bit of beginners luck because mine stood out due to how “cute” it looked in comparison to the big boys next to me.
My biggest sales were from flavor of the month anime merch, and normie items (watercolors). Also a decent amount from commissions (which included normie portraits).

Honestly I'm really happy with what I have done during all the rounds, but I could have done better and I will for the next tourney. Seeing everyone working hard and interpreting the prompts was very inspiring. I want to thank nic and all the judges for bringing the community together, it created a really motivating environment and the crits really helped me.

i don't think i did great but i feel like i did alright. was fine with my score and thought it made sense.
i was happy with my creativity and storytelling, i feel a lot more confident with it now going into the comic challenge. i realized a lot of bad habits i have like procrastinating the more difficult drawing/troubleshooting parts of the work by noodling around instead, and feel like i improved on getting better about biting down and working through problems.

i feel like i have a much clearer idea of what i need to work on being drawing, perspective, and really "finishing" stuff. i feel like im close to a breakthrough on rendering.

Advice here. If you want easy commissions, open them on amino (best communities are probably adopts, furry or commission amino) The average age of users is about 12 so you can easily scam them out of their parents money.
If you make medium quality adopts I’ve seen them go for around $30 on adopts amino within a week or so, people are crazy about furries on there too, so furry adopts usually go over $80 in a week or two if the artist is big enough
For the challenge, I don’t think adopts are in the rules, but you can still offer character commissions for about $5- 10 a headshot and probably rake in 4 or 5 commissions over a week or so if your art style is anime or furry enough. A friend of mine has basically no following anywhere but has still done $40 headshot commissions on amino.

I think I get what you mean, I need to make everything look more consistent right, a lot of the time the face and different parts of the body look too different stylistically and don't go well together.
