Not the original anon who had it but I just got mine in the mail yesterday. It's basically what I thought Stonehouse Academy's book was going to be like. While Stonehouse's focuses on the actual anatomy (bones, muscles, etc), Rockhe Kim's is more focused on posing the figure, making maquettes, and drawing the figure in perspective. It has more coverage than most books on the female figure as well, though the male figure definitely has more (just as diagram of more vs. less muscular male bodies whereas the female figure is the same toned but still soft looking body the whole time). I don't have a scanner and it's way too long to scan but just in case anyone was on the fence about buying it I would definitely recommend it (and over the Stonehouse book too). Use the Google Translate app's image translation for the pages you're studying and you're good to go.

Stonehouse Academy hasn't been scanned by anyone yet. But it's not really as useful as Rockhe's anyways. It has a lot of information on muscles and bones, but it would take forever to translate the book itself and thr drawing tips are harder to put to practice.

I have the book irl. The only problem is that the book is a little disorganized compared to something like sketching manga style or loomis. It kinda sucks because the book is soo thick that it's hard to use as a reference since keeping it open is a chore at times lol. Its a good book but I wish it was a lot bigger. I also have the 15 year anniversary artbook, that gathers art from all the Krozmoz, since I didn't get the 10 year artbook when it was released. That would be really tiresome to scan/photograph because it's +350 pages long iirc, it's mostly promo art rather than concepts

I'm trying to replicate almost every drawing because there is a lot of construction involved and I think it will be a good exercise, but as >>4546901
pointed out some drawing are examples of what you shouldn't do. Some of these are obvious but others are not, like on page labeled 24/25 (23 on the pdf) there are two examples of "bad" perspective. I'm using google translate to check some pages, I highly recommend it.

They can, there are a couple of notorious examples of infected PDFs being used to breach gov funded groups a long time ago.
You can use websites like Virustotal that can scan certain suspicious looking files, that is assuming the virus is still a part of the pdf and hasn't moved onto another file.

So far I have never gotten a virus from books or vids from /ic/

A long time ago I did get one from a MEGA on a different board though, there was a strange file and it would not let me delete it, then there was a folder that kept getting generated in my downloads and every time I deleted it another would pop up. Eventually I used a free trial of Kaspersky Lab to get rid of it because my free anti-virus was slacking.

THANK YOU! I bought the Korean one a month ago and the damn thing is so thick it's hard to lay flat. Been using my phone for google translate and it more or less gets the gist of what's on the page. If you're using an online translator, I think you'll have better results Kor->Eng rather than Jpn->Eng but I haven't looked into it yet.

I dunno about you but I like being able to draw different types of people in an actually accurate way. The RockHe and Stonehouse books are great because all the examples and proportions are based off asians. Loomis et all tend to use chiseled American men and the same Gibson girl in their plates, and so people who solely learn from them aren't comfortable drawing anything other than white people. Why else do you think Western artists suddenly start using a gaudy saturated yellow tone when painting asians or just draw them with slit/closed eyes instead of taking an hour to learn how to render an epicanthic fold? I don't mind Stonehouse's little weird black guy since I'm not reading the book to learn how to draw/paint black people, but some English speaking person would definitely lose their shit if they saw a localized copy of Stonehouse and saw that pic in it.

In my experience of being a compulsive book-buyer and -hoarder I can say: no book is worth owning unless you can either
1) deduce it from taxes
2) assume that mastering this one book would make you a well-paid professional.

I came to this painful realization far too late. if you study a book one day it becomes worthless to you and reselling a book is painfully useless. If you use a reference you might as well just pirate it for the PC, since you'll not spend too long looking up whatever you needed to look up in that moment.

Maybe there is some use in buying fiction- you wouldnt want to read that from a screen.

I learned the lesson you are talking about after hauling suitcase after suitcase of books to used bookstores and flipping them for like $3 each, just to make room in my place. I think this largely stemmed from having grown up largely pre-internet.
However, I still sometimes buy old-timey, out of print instruction books when whatever scans I can find look like shit and Inreally want to examine something close up. Or if they’re wordy and thick and I plan on actually reading them.

Being able to draw different races has nothing to do with the races in your instructional books. It depends on who you use for reference. The planes of the head are still the same just different proportions.

I use a scanner like this https://www.amazon.fr/Easypix-Easy-scan-Scanner-manuel-Noir/dp/B0038JQIF6
on the bottom it has some wheels which move as you move the scanner on page. Its especially made for books, so it scans them well as you can see, and without bending the book. But at the edge of the paper, the wheels stop rotating so its stop scanning like 2 cm away from the edge. Some drawings closer to it get cropped a little, and this is more noticeable in the second book where illustrations tend to be closer to it
