IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the /draw/thread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, or you literally are never going to make it

i definitely get that. i feel that way sometimes.
might sound weird, but read about existentialism. in a roundabout way, the best way to live for the future is to live in the now. it might empower you a little.

but, to be honest, does it really matter all that much if you're 'bad'? there's something more interesting going on, which is your progression, the dialogue between you, your work, and idea. the end goal, or these little milestones--these are the least interesting parts. the act of drawing is what's good, i guess, and that's what you've got already and there's only more to come, so don't be upset.
you can think about what a past version of you is not experiencing, but that version is already dead. in a similar way the future version of you is dead also. it only makes sense to love the now.
hopefully that made sense, but usually i know i don't.

Honestly Hampton's figure drawing design and invention book is as good as any place to start. Though it might help to do a bit of Scott Roberton's perspective book beforehand, just so you can draw basic 3D shapes in perspective. Last one for the night. I'm wondering whether this venture is worth it.

I'm looking at models and trying to kinda "convert" them into these drawings. I'm really trying to grab key placements and orientations and proportions and then trying to work from there.

So much trial and error with this stuff though, I am kinda figuring out the eyes, but clearly everything else needs work, and the eyes are only now sub-par at best versus the garbage from last week. What an adventure, it's fun.

however i've noticed some flaws, mainly in the torso. it lacks form and kinda look like a flat plank and also the right arm is disconnected from the body.
remember to always keep in mind and sketchout the 3d form of the body when designing a pose

I don't really know what I'm doing either so I tried my hand at it as well.
I think you're thinking too much about the line/contour, it's harder with the eyes and I can't really pull it of either, but try thinking more about the forms and surrounding planes like with the nose.
Same with the mouth, planes and forms.
I actually like your nose in this one.
Try downloading Hustons head drawing course in the video course thread, he approaches the features in a structure/ form study way.
If nothing else it will give you some direction.

Hey man, you got a lot of responses but nothing that's actually helpful.
Your drawing is pretty basic and the most important thing for you atm is to just get more drawing experience.
Then you should consider reading some beginner books like "keys to drawing" or "drawing on the right side of the brain"
But that should be secondary to just drawing more in general.
Also ditch the lined paper it can throw you off.

Bruh you don't need a redline. You should just see that your faces are ugly even if you don't know how to fix them. Thus you should be experimenting with new things to fix them instead of doing *the exact same thing every time*. If you can't even do that much then I don't know what to say.

If the art is that unclear (I draw small and blurry, it's a problem): it's an anthro raccoon woman holding a plunger and commenting on it.
Is the question is "why"? I've done a bunch of drawings of this raccoon girl, who is the "slave" of a teenage boy, however the shtick is that while she thirsts to be a sex slave they never actually bang, as he's not a furry.

At least they notice you and even have a name for you. It means you’re doing something right! I’d suggest you work outside your comfort zone. Your pictures and subject matter are all very same-y, so you’re not really learning anything right now. You have some decent basics down, but due to the limited paces you’re putting them through you’re not really solidifying that knowledge. Some different poses, perspectives, and characters will help shore things up.

I have a proportion problem when copying. I think I'm drawing everything at the right distance, but when I finish I notice most stuff is larger/smaller than it should be, which means hands usually are huge and bodies are small, for example. Is this something I'll just get better at with practice or should I aim for specific training?

Color is relative to its surrounding environment, it is an illusion created which is fundamental for you to understand that you will identify lighter/darker tones based on its surrounding. You may brighten or darken hues by simply brightening or darken the shade of its surrounding background.

These couple threads made me question sanity and perception. Like people who do it really see something nice or amazing and put lot of work in it when in reality it some twisted thing. Like how you know. You spend lot of time on a thing but in reality it totally broken. and no mirror will not help.

picture not related but maybe it is. But it not something planed, I was trying to tackle this freaking "head from the bottom" thing and then turn it in to some nonsense. and it was goofy all the way. But with shading it almost works but maybe it exactly this perception thing turned on me eventually.

Find an attractive woman IRL and stare at her. Really intense and creepy like. Then when she asks “what the hell are you doing, freak?” You say “memorizing the structure of your face; it’s exquisite and needs to be the model for all women in my art.” This will make her way wet and then you bang her.

but it sounds stupid to learn an 'ideal female head' and use that as your base. lots of women have kinda heavy browbones, and they still look interesting, or attractive.
but if you had to stick with one head as a baseline, you should go with something more interesting than meme proportions, imo

One way I get into the groove of drawing from imagination is to draw some fan-art of whomever/whatever and do my best to make it look interesting and/or unique. The process of changing or putting a "spin" on something is usually the energy you're trying to capture or recreate.
Most importantly it should be fun, since the goal is to express creativity, not sharpen skill. So don't worry about whether you can achieve the exact look.
