how can be instagram one of the most influential platforms to post your art when it crops the shit out of it? Is art really that unimportant for normies? It feels like the art you put hours onto is viewed five seconds max if youre lucky and thats it.

it takes more than five seconds, and definitely more attention that what ig trains you to have.

Feng Zhu literally says he spends 30 seconds maximum looking at a portfolio of 25-35 pieces, so yeah it takes more for a whole portfolio, but less per image

This shouldn't be a surprise to you. One of the best things about art is that you can process it almost instantly.

The alternative isn't that normies look at your art for minutes or hours, it's that, lacking the sbility to sort the interesting from the trash, they don't even bother looking at all. How many times do you see a book and read the first 30 pages on a whim, knowing nothing except the title?

same. feels like you'd have to grind out doodles on the daily like spudonkey or already have brand recognition from another platform like Sinix, Aldoori and co. to get anywhere in terms of follower count and user engagement.

fuck off. if you don't get an audience for the art *you* want to make, you have to support yourself via commissions or go full wagie, and either of those will drain your artistic spark considerably.

instagram is complete shit thanks to the all-knowing zucc
>trillions of """art""" accounts
>accounts with 0 posts and a thumbnail of an attractive woman will have more followers than an actual art-focused account
>nothing can be edited once posted
>can't select text for some reason, have to either save hashtags separately or type them out for every fucking post
>retardedly strict restrictions on aspect ratio
and worst of all
>suppresses your posts if you don't want to pay to promote them

if you know that it accepts square and wider-than-tall pictures to an extent, then make a square drawing for instagram

if you're throwing a baby tantrum because your picture's croppy cropped, then it's on you and not on instagram

you already knew it takes squares, so why bitch when it makes a square out of your shitty ass doodle?

No one gives a fucking if your art is cropped on instagram. make art with the ratio in mind or just dont think about it.
use artstation for your portfolio you show to people who actually care about things like composition.

What the artist thinks means nothing, you adapt to the platform, it's not the platform that has to suit you. You make ads for things that are selling right now with the colors that suit that platform and you format them so they look good on the platform. Welcome to 2020, where you're just another chicken in the pen, trying to sell its own meat to the other chicken.

Instagram isn't meant for art, it's meant for miscellany phone pics. People use it as a gallery site because it's an excellent way to show off a literal wall of your art and give people a fairly comprehensive idea of your art at a glance, but you should really link an ig account to another website that allows you to upload high res images.

no you cant, instagram retards purposefully follow people either worse than them or equally as bad as them.majority of their followers are preteens and teens with no drive or skill. you can't get a high follower account with sentient people on your works alone unless you're at a professional level of art.

you can't even participate in contests with those types of popular accounts because they don't pick winners based on the quality of art, skill, or time and effort invested, they pick winners based on who's closest to their style, because they suck cock and don't want to admit to it.

never fall for the instagram trap. nobody wants to criticize on there and you'll just get a false inflated ego based on positive comments received, in the end, you are NGMI. also explore for art accounts is horrendous and degenerate, on top of that it makes you feel awful.

a 15 year old will have 50x more followers than you and draws furfag werewolves with big cocks.

also watch as a literal zoophile, vorefag, necrophile gets accepted into a premium art showcase, and put on the same pedestal as aaron blaise. instagram's a shitshow especially with furries.

Desu shit on deviantart or tumblr all you want, but they're still the best places for amateurs(Artstation is good, but something else). My old works still get likes there, while on instagram and twitter it's as if any new piece dissappears from the face of the planet the day after they're posted. Also, deviantart groups are great for exposure, and tumblr tags seem to actually work.

It isn't.
Twitter is the smallest social media, even smaller than linkedin.
And tumblr is a joke site that has been dismissed for one controversy or another since it's very inception.

Social media won't get you a job in the industry or kickstart your fame as an illustrator/author. Social media is for selling your teespring or society6 stuff. Or to keep the normies feeling involved when you're already famous.
