Why even bother? /ic/'s leddit counterpart is far superior AND gets more recognition.

Bob Ross does shit in 30 minutes, so?

ngl, people should go to reddit for critique, the anonymity makes it hard to block ngmi crabs posting bait 24/7, if only they could get tripcodes so I could mass block all their posts.

Insecure much? What'd your 4.5 hours get you? Two pages of scribbly gestures?

This. There are a fuckload of shortcuts to landscape painting with traditional paints. That's not to discount the effort or skill that goes into it, definitely. But you could learn that too.

r/pics isn't the /ic equivalent. It's basically a free for all social media hub where people share everything from dear old grandpas birthday to their wedding days.

The dedicated art subreddits are marginally better than /ic (r/Art has 17.4m members), and they have some stand out artists, but on average its just barely an improvement.

Figure drawings and painting landscapes are two completely different areas of art. You should know that.

>> No.4487518

>>4487430
I dunno man, seems like you could fudge a lot with a landscape and just let your experience carry you. You don't have to worry much about form/proportions/exact perspective/etc as you would with a figure/architecture painting.

reddit is indeed better than 4chan in most respects these days but the art subreddits just aren't really that good a format for discussion.

Seems like the digitalpainting and other smaller art subreddits dont have the userbase to consistently have good discussion. Artfundamentals is just people posting the boxes they've drawn, etc. Some of the specific art type subreddits are good though, like ImaginarySliceofLife, etc for finding specific genres with tags that arent easy to find otherwise.

If you can find a good discord I think its the best resource, because you have credible critique from people whose level of art knowledge you know(instead of 4chan anonymity), without the slowness of reddit.

Reddit and 4/chan are the same quality wise. 4chan is filled with people bitching about shit (sometimes with useful critique), and generally causing threads to end do to the tard war.
Reddit is filled with people echoing the same sentiments (while usually supportive for their fellow artist) out of fear that they'll get downvoted by the dunning-krugers running the ship.

You mean that an Anonymous Imageboard is not the way to get known? Sirenko is competing in fast painting challenges, of course he would rather advertise his stuff on Reddit than on 4chan. That's how he can get commissions to paint Game of Throne and Marvel characters.
For those wanting to see how he Bobrosses those waves:

Literally not even particularly impressive. With this kind of scene you don’t have to worry about anatomy, perspective systems, or even construction or form, you can literally just block in shapes bob ross style then render them into objects. If you did like 50 of these ocean scenes you could easily pump them out in that timeframe.
If there was a human, a building, a boat, or anything other than waves crashing in a way that doesn’t make physical sense (bottom right, wtf this ocean is defying gravity) it would be more impressive.
