For the future, I think you may want to focus more on the finished stage of pieces. You have solid fundies, but you're very much within a comfort zone of "single character portrait/standing at flat angle," which keeps you from making really interesting stuff. Maybe venture into environments, so you can place your characters in setting, or try doing more dynamic perspectives and poses. Maybe even painting would be a fun area for you to dabble in.
I don't mean to sound discouraging, I just think you have a good foundation, and if you push yourself harder you could make really impressive stuff! The picture of the two robots is neat, I think you should try doing more stuff like that.

>> No.4453034

>>4453011
Yeah you're spot. I was just scrolling through my stuff realizing I was becoming "character with a line of color behind them" guy. Being overly cautious has always been my biggest problem. Dont like making mistakes, so I shelter in comfort zones something awful.

And no worries! It's not discouraging in the least. I appreciate hearing it. It's a good motivational kick to get back to work lol.

I love this book. Recommend it every chance I get. I think you could probably accomplish the same thing with other stuff, but this one just clicked for me.

>>4453476
See above. But regarding references specifically, I know the feeling. I didn't understand how to use them properly until I started to really think in terms of volume first. I unironically believe in the "draw cylinders and cubes in perspective" meme. I'm not saying go out and draw only cylinders, but if you look at references and learn to break them down into cubes and cylinders, it'll do wonders.

Drawing from mid 2019 versus a recent anatomy practice, still got a long way to go but I'm still pretty happy

Right is better. But the proportions are still weird. She looks like a midget and her eyes and jaw don't match the nose or the lips. Good improvement imo though.

I am >>4475435. Thank you for the feedback. I didn't finish rendering the last one because I still feel lost with values a bit. I always try to push things a bit further when it comes to drawing but am still exploring values, colours, composition etc. cheers

I wish something motivated me to draw.

I think I've made under a dozen sketches/drawings in the last two years.

I gave up on making it back then, but for some reason the dream still quietly lingers in the background, leaving me in a purgatory I cannot pass through.

This is very good progression, I am proud of you. You should start painting again

Are you nuts? That’s literally no progression. Unless you count using a slightly wider value range as progression.

Where? Unfinished grey scale painting, no construction, terrible brush work. The only difference is more value range.

No. You better have a goal to shortcut to, because you're likely never going to REALLY make it, but you might be able to fake hard enough to meet your goals
