Every time I spoke to a customer at my job what I enjoyed to do and wanted to do with my life, I’ve always said that I wanted to be a professional artist selling their work online.

Some don’t say much, but their faces show disappointment and others just flat out tell you why pursuing art is useless and that you should just go for a STEM degree.

Speaking to my female colleagues about Art is also really surface level. Normie girls don’t really respect artists unless they’re really really popular and even then it is still not as respectable as a STEM degree. I can understand why because being an artist is almost tantamount to being a NEET, isn’t it? Sitting at home most of the day drawing in one space. Your wife might just respect you less. But that’s just my two cents.

Yes, girls love artists. If you don't believe me, then at least try bringing a sketchbook to a bar and draw what's around you; normalfags are impressed at the fact that I can get quick gestures down of the people around me and think my shitty drawings look great.

Girls also love it when I draw them on napkins and stuff and make them look sexy, it's gotten me in more than once.

As for the money you can make...it might depend on where you live as well, but graphic designers, animators, and storyboarders make lots of money and their skills are invaluable across multiple industries. Working freelance is great as long as you have a robust portfolio and keep yourself active in the market.

In my personal experience, relationships only distract you from your work. Art requires a special kind of focus, both mechanical and mental, can't do that if you're all like "does she love me or not?" inside your head

Ok, so something you have to aware of. The starving artist meme is really deeply ingrained in society, and for good reason. Fine artists make some random painting then try to sell it to people from gallery. Making a living off of this is the art equivalent of becoming a rock-star or celebrity actor. This also happens to be what normies think when they here the word artist with regards to someone's profession. This is why when you are talking to normies you should not say "I'm an artist" or "I'm training to become an artist," instead use a more direct professional phrase like "I am an illustrator" or "I'm training to become a concept artist." This sounds more like you actually are perusing a career and not just a lifestyle.

Now as for girls, they actually love artists. Yeah some do the mental calculation of you = financial burden will come up. But most girls actually find being creative attractive. When I was in high-school, girls literally only spoke to me because I could draw. I would sometimes draw them and that impressed them. If you really want to learn how to talk to a girl, get some books on how to talk to people and have good conversation. Look up books about social dynamics and female psychology.

And look up todd valentine on youtube. His channel is about pick up but the stuff he talks about is valuable because a lot of it is about how to convey yourself to other people, how to change how people see you, things to fix about appearance, tonality, body language, etc.

You can use this information to make friends and connections with people, not just get laid.

But the number one thing is practice, just like drawing. You need to get yourself into more social interactions with people, even if its awkward. Hope this helps.

My point, though, was to answer OP's question about whether girls respect male artists, and the answer, I think, is that they clearly do, and as I mentioned before, graphic designers, storyboarders, and animators are more than capable of being the breadwinners (I live in LA, so there's high demand for all of these).

Old fag reporting in. Most if not all of the progress you'll make you'll do before you are married. It takes a massive amount of focus and neglect of the spouse to keep improving after you're with someone.
Most of the guys I went to artschool with that didn't marry have had varying degrees of success. But they're all still doing art for money.
The ones who got a girlfriend/married/kids are mostly doing other work now except for the ones who had a very high quality of craftsmanship before they met their partner. And even they are doing lower tier jobs to spend more time at home.

But be aware that the sting of loneliness isn't anything to sneeze at. It can break people down to the ground and keep you there. You'll need a lot of mental fortitude to keep it going. Around 45 I found that this sting was getting weaker. Now that I'm 55, I feel it maybe once a year or so.

Both sides have positive and negative aspects. It's up to you to decide on what is more important.
