your edges are fucked, and the values are also fucked. Fromt he work I've seen you make I've noticed you always use too much earth colors (that's more of a personal preference) the background buildings would probably look better without the outlines, the hair was lazily done, you made her face look manly by using such strong tones and edges.

There's also some good things but if you want to actually improve you should probably make small paintings until you are able or willing to put some more effort to the paintings.

I see your posts sometimes. I think the root of the problem is you diving into colours, composition, perspective, anatomy all at once. Why don't you really think about the stuff that you want to do and how to achieve it? Maybe the best way would be to gain more knowledge in drawing with a pencil the way peter han does, first a small preliminary sketch where you try to get the big shapes / proportions down and later on you refine it when you scale things up. Steve Huston once said that 90% of problems that you encounter in painting have a basis in the lack of understanding things in a drawing. If you focus on trying to achieve space with only lines and maybe some values, you could begin to understand your problems with painting.

Your drawing is better but I believe you are making things too defined in places with edges that are not as defined. Pleas don’t try to stylize. For instance, you can somewhat get away with painting the nose from the correct angle symbolically as what you know how a nose looks, but not the cheek as it merges with the jaw. The transition is too subtle to try to make a cheek and the a jaw.
Let this painting (op) be your underpainting and now make your edges softer where they need to be.
You are getting better so keep it up.

imo it feels like you treated it like a glamour shot or a magazine cover, something to show her fans. That is what it feels like, maybe you stuck too closely to a photo reference and the background feels like a set piece for said photoshoot. All those things can be fixed without changing your style, just give her something else, something a camera couldn't do.

PS. I struggle with backgrounds because I start focusing on the person/char, then by the time I start coloring and rendering I have a flat background, so it's best to have the whole concept in mind in the initial process, it may change during the making, but it will be better than starting with the character or person in front of nothing

I recommend you try Gouache some time, and skip acrylics, imo they are good for drawings and old school animation but not for painting, i liked that they dry fast and that you can paint a color on top of the other without it mixing, but gouache is like that, except it also works like watercolor and it blends too if you want it too.

Yes, this is definitely a step in the right direction if you're going for aesthetics. There's a couple changes I would make:

You're improving so much. You are doing such a good job. You have so much work I bet you could probably attend a local art show and try selling your paintings. I'm pretty sure you could do that online, too, but I think it would be interesting if you tried.

Also, I think the only issue I am having is with the background, a bit. Look at what happened after I turned your image grayscale. the green and red are literally the same tone. That means that the read as the same thing. For all that you could have just made the background one single color and gotten the same effect. In fact I would argue the tones of the background match her skintone at times.

Playing with the tones, not just color, would give you way more depth into your paintings. This would create a visual hierarchy for your viewer which would help them enjoy your work even more and give them much more depth. Such as if you have a dark green try something lighter that would stand out from it.

One more issue is that big ball of light. While I do understand that you want that to be the sun as it's pouring light onto her, I find it to be kinda distracting. You need another area in the painting equally as bright to balance that out. Those could have been her highlights or even her outfit and/or jewelry.

I would recommend taking some of your favorite artists work and turn them grayscale to see how they play with tone. Hell, take your own works, turn them gray to see how you play with it. I would definitely recommend doing some black and white studies to help you learn more about how to tackle tones and values.
