I'm sure they would have done so if they could (but the challenge already started), but beyond even that it doesn't seem to have any meaningful task attached.

1. Download an artist improvement chart (google) or make your own.
2. Around the last week of each month submit your chart with the best work you think you made in the month.
3. Repeat this once a month until the end of the year.

It's literally just updating the chart 12 times with what you thought was your best work, not making the work itself. That's 5 minutes of effort. Challenges require a minimum of 30.

Not bad, if you’re practicing beans, it might help to focus on JUST drawing the bean shape without adding on anything else. I’d do a page or two of just beans before moving on to anything else. Also always pay attention to when the two circles in the bean overlap each other so you’re not just stacking them.

I already stated my reasoning behind why anon comments/critique system might benefit the site for existing and dedicated users. I don’t feel like spelling it out again but I will anyway.
1) Critiquing puts a target on your head
2) people don’t want that negative attention
3) people feel like they are not qualified to critique
4) people are just too shy to express their opinions, even if it’s positive
Not saying everyone would use this system, but I’m sure there are people who would.

We could have a challenge where you post your process/make a tutorial or something and less skilled artists can learn from the better daddies who in turn can crit others' processes?

I think that would be a good idea. I usually don't like getting crit on my stuff unless I'm specifically asking for it or putting it in a crit channel. A lot of my stuff is rough, or I can see the flaws in it myself, or I have a very specific idea for it and oftentimes getting crit ends up being useless. Does anyone have advice on how to use reference? I get the steps of getting the reference of what I want to draw but I don't understand at all how to use it besides tracing. I don't know whether to break every single part of the reference separately or something else. I see people using a single image of a character and making their drawing out of that.

For me, that was life drawing and writing. I also wanted to try my hand at acting.

The acting troupe was a complete bust (imagine being surrounded by trite nerds whose conversations consists of 95% of quoting Rick and Morty and random oddball random sayings), and the creative writing club was even fucking worse, but I met a fair number of down to earth people in Life Drawing Club. A graduate STEM guy started a conversation of me, and I ended up joining his drinking crew as we spent random weekends going out to bars and just talking. Really comfy stuff.

Areas of improvement: Clothing creases and anatomy feel 'winged'. Pick up refs, actually look at how creases work, where bony landmarks are and muscles show. Do studies that exaggerate them, even. yeah, but if you only look to craft its hard to not look elsewhere. a lot of people have a short term goal of being self sufficient with their art, and they far exceed the raw fundamentals requirement for that goal, but don't swap over to working on storytelling/appeal/making a marketable product because they still see mistakes. I think a lot of it is accepting that you will have an imperfect product and putting it out there anyways, while continuing to level up alongside that thing!
