Great, can someone accessory pill me on what to get alongside the iPad & pencil? What case or keyboard, or what screen protectors for drawing?

thanks

>1. You can use ipad as cintiq
>2. your art is not good enough to use features outside of procreate anyway
>3. photoshop, by the end of the year, will probably be 1:1 with desktop photoshop anyway
>4. I had pro cintiq with shitty parallax and grainy monitor + bad overall quality, I was lucky to sell it for 90% of what I paid for it (the best thing about cintiqs, you can sell 2hand for quite a lot)

Apple shill gtfo.
Even if photoshop would be 1:1 with desktop (tip: it won't be) your ipad is not 1:1 to a desktop in functionality or hardware.

If they made them bigger on the next iteration I might consider it.
But then again, last time I used an apple product some 5 years ago I literally felt like killing myself with how little freedom apple gives you.

I spent two grand on a mobilestudio pro, used it for a year, and use the iPad now. Where do I begin with the mobilestudio pro's strong points?
>provides constant warmth during winter
>battery cuts off at 3.5 hours to encourage taking a break from the computer
>impressively high price for the value
>equally impressive weight and thickness

ipad weaknesses
>smartphone level battery life can cause you to stay on screen too long for health
>screen is cold and lifeless to the touch
>feels too light and slim like it's no trouble to carry around

Right? The ipad is so stupid. I’ve walked around for hours completely forgetting that i even have it. Why can’t it constantly remind me that it’s there like my old companion with it’s re-affirming bulk, weight, and power block?

oh and don’t even get me started on the parallax (or lack there of). How am i supposed to know where the cursor is when i can’t see it offset 1~3cm from where i’m pointing? Aaaarg!

don’t get me started on how annoying not having that lap warming feature like on the companion. I had wardrobes designed around cute little pleated skirts that are now worthless because my legs are so cold now.

let’s face it, the ipad is a one trick pony. It’s only good for drawing stuff, who needs that shit amirite?

Just go on Amazon and get whatever the highest rated matter screen protector is, it'll make the screen feel more like paper than glass. Don't bother with the Paper Like screen protector, from what I've heard it's essentially the same thing. Downside of all matte screen protectors is that they cause some rainbowing on the screen, and make the colors/contrast a bit dull. Not a huge deal imo, I usually just export my Procreate paintings, open them in Snapseed on my phone, and do some curves adjustments in there if I feel like they need it.

I use a knockoff smart case, also from Amazon. Plastic back cover, folding front cover with felt-like inside. Had it for 2 years and it's been great, but it does make my 2nd Gen iPad Pro 12.8" heat up after a while. Don't know if that's just the iPad or if the case is to blame.

Also get one of those ergonomic rubber pen holder thingys for the apple pencil, and one of those silicone bits that hold the cap of the pencil attached to the pencil itself. Just go on Amazon and look up "apple pencil accessories", you'll see what I'm talking about.

That's pretty much all you'll need. Oh and maybe an extra long braided charging cable, so you can keep the iPad connected when you decide to paint and realize it's at 5% battery.

Samsung Tab s3/s4/s6 is better, desu.
The only thing the iPad has for it is that it's got procreate (but it's not even good, just get autodesk sketchbook or infinite painter) and the full desktop version of clip studio which is "the best thing since anime artists use it" but it's clunky as fuck to use without keyboard shortcuts which the iPad can't use at all

Either get the samsung tablet or just pick up a surface pro 6 or 7

As someone who’s had a galaxy tab s2, s3, s4 and a note 5, 6, 8, and 9, this is a lie. It’s an alternative if you are adamantly anti-apple but it isn’t a ‘better’ product than an ipad pro. Samsung hasn’t done much of anything since buying wacom especially for artists. Sketchbook is probably the best app on android for art but it doesnt compare to procreate. Sketchbook is a poor man’s equivalent at best. An ipad pro with procreate and affinity designer beats anything on android hands down.

I had to export a storyboard once, 15 pages and share it with my client on an ipad mini. I had to do it while on mobile data because I happened to be out running an errand that day, and its really a pain go through 3 screens and 5 different point and click just to share one of those images. For some reason I just couldn't put clipstudio exported image directly into my photo gallery somehow, which the chat app I used has direct access to, but not files or pages. I couldn't get use to ipad's file system at all, why do you have to go through cloud just to put regular web ready image in your gallery?

I've asked this before not too long ago, but how the fuck do you blend in Procreate? The only method I know of right now is using the smudge tool but it looks a bit artificial in my opinion.

I felt these limitations diminishes its usefulness as productivity tool, and its unfortunate because the drawing experience with pencil is quite great. The fact that its file system makes syncing and sharing some of my files such a chore is why I haven't upgraded to pro version.

Trying to decide between the surface pro 7 and the ipad pro. From what I've gathered

SP7
-Windows 10 features (windows file system, can arrange windows side by side, can have more than one instance of a program)
-More Ram
-slightly cheaper
-laptop replacement; more computer than tablet

iPad pro
-Superior display
-has cellular option
-apparently better drawing experience
-more tablet than computer

Can someone weight in on this?

Surface Pro 4 and iPad Pro owner here. Pen tech on the surface is NTrig, and really does suffer from wavy lines on the diagonals. The tech hasn’t gotten any better really, they’ve only added minor things like tilt.
I got the Surface because I needed both a computer and an art creation platform at the time. This is crucial. If all you need is a digital art tablet, iPad hands down. Apple Pencil really is that good. I’ve moved on from Surface to the iPad full time for art, and will likely replace the surface with a regular laptop or desktop in the future.

Try going to a BestBuy or similar and try them each out. If you do need a computer, look into Surface clones from HP or Dell or others. Some still use Wacom EMR tech and will give a much better drawing response.
