It is possible to not enjoy drawing per se and keep doing it. One must have the desire to achieve something they really want. One needs a lot of willpower and obsession. Not passion but obsession. The two are not the same.

>> No.4209456

considering how much i stress out about not improving as fast as I want to, or insecure about being a potential ngmi or whatever, I feel like this person probably loves drawing more than I do. I draw everyday, but at the same time there's many days I wonder why I even bother with it at all. I feel like the main reason I draw at this point is because I've already invested this much time in it, therefore I must continue.

but I feel like this person never questions why they do it. they know what they want to make, and they make it. it doesn't look good, but I feel like their willingness to share it means they must be somewhat proud of it. It's just a pure love of the process, despite the fact the process isn't delivering them good results.

Or rather, I'd argue that the process IS giving them good results, just not good artistic results - the good results are emotional. The personal pride of creating something in tribute to characters that mean something to you.

If that's what they need out of art, then they aren't a ngmi; they already made it.

There's really no way to explain it poss. You should have fun while drawing. The act of putting lines on paper, measuring forms and angles, figuring out how exactly to represent something in 2d, it should all be fun.
It's kinda like video games. You want to see the end and hope the end is fun but the real fun is had while you actually play the game and do shit. If you only have fun after you beat the game then you either need to go out and find the fun or try a different hobby

Makes no sense, no "process" is fun. What's fun is the end result and being able to hold that over the head of people who can't or didn't find a way to obtain it. Don't believe me? Ask yourself if you could make amazing, perfect art identical to what you image 1:1 appear like magic. Would you not do it hundreds of times and lord how great it is over others? Of course you fucking would. Nobody enjoys grueling labor. It's the same reason people would rather win a billion dollars rather than have to work for it.

People say "Just draw" under the assumption you have the brain cells to correct yourself and keep on trying to work through your art and slowly improve. The idea is to help you work through the fear of making a mistake and not improving fast enough.
If you genuinely think that you will get better by just randomly scribbling on a piece of paper you are out of your god damn mind and are probably too stupid for your own good.

>no "process" is fun
You either have a mental problem preventing you from enjoying things or you have participated in very few activities. No matter what you're doing the fun is usually had during the activity and not afterwards.
>Would you not do it hundreds of times and lord how great it is over others? Of course you fucking would
Fuck no. Making shit poof into thin air is boring. It'd feel the same as just googling for an image
>Nobody enjoys grueling labor
You misunderstand art. Or fun in general. Hobbies should not be grueling labor. Piano players don't moan and whine when they do scales or dread time when they're just piddling around doing riffs. Writers do not fear the hours they spend typing out and dreaming up the events of their novel, nor do they shut down when they realize they have to check over their work for errors.
Yes, doing some of the tedious things are tedious, but there should always be *some* fun to be had.

You have a natural tendency to draw the same things over and over and stay in the comfort zone. Always. Sometimes I go a whole day drawing a reiteration of one thing (which is OK if that thing is new) and I notice that, say, I'm repeating a hand pose over and over again. You never stop doing it especially if you draw off your head, and it's something you have to actively challenge.
There's also a general lack of curiosity in these artists who never improve. I doubt they actually like art or ever try to imitate a technique they see somewhere. They just spam drawings without really trying to achieve anything.
And last but not least,
>>4208629
Autism, literal autism. This is what autistic people do, they just do the same thing over and over. It's not an artistic act, it's an act of repetition. If you are a normal person and you just draw a ton while attempting to challenge your comfort zone (and you will if you're not autistic) you will improve.

It's because they like to mentally wank themselves off, imaging how their friends and family will be slobbering over their artwork instead of putting in real effort. It's like that one friend who comes up with a semi great ideas, starts a project, then never follows it through. They just like the idea of being good not actually being good. If these types of people think than can even remotely make an income from art they're completely delusional. Holy fuck the autism. Dude being an artist is probably the worst profession you can do in terms of income and availability. You need to tell your artists friends who don't enjoy art to go to a fucking trade school and to stop being retarded. Seriously, if they don't enjoy doing art then DO LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE! Anything is almost better and safer then being a fucking artist. It's a stressful career and it takes some serious passion, obsession, and enjoyment to not off yourself on a nearby nature park trail. Furthermore, if they're doing it as a hobby and don't enjoy it then they need to go take a fucking walk and rethink their priorities.
